Take that! Obama: Climate summit a ‘powerful rebuke’ to terrorists

Via The Hill: The two leaders met in Washington a week and a half after ISIS carried out multiple terrorist attacks in Paris, killing 130, and less than a week before Obama goes to the French capital to work with world leaders on an international pact to fight climate change.

Obama struck a similar tone Sunday at a news conference in Malaysia.

“I think it is absolutely vital for every country, every leader, to send a signal that the viciousness of a handful of killers does not stop the world from doing vital business, and that Paris … is not going to be cowered by the violent, demented actions of a few,” Obama said about the upcoming climate conference.

Obama and other administration officials have been criticized for their insistence that climate change is a threat to national security on par with terrorism.

Obama and dozens of other international leaders will participate in an event at the conference Monday, but he will leave Tuesday, and the conference will continue until at least Dec. 11.

Fox News Poll: Terrorism #1 Concern as Climate Falls to Only 3%

When asked what is currently the most important issue facing the country, 24 percent of those surveyed said terrorism. That number stood at 11 percent the last time Fox News conducted the poll. Another 21 percent cited the economy as their top concern. The issue has been at top of the list for most of President Obama’s tenure in office.

The new poll also found that Americans are largely unconcerned with climate change, which the Obama administration has repeatedly pointed to as the nation’s top security threat. Only 3 percent of respondents said that global warming was the most important issue facing the country today, down from 5 percent in a Fox poll released last August.…

But wait! ‘DID GLOBAL WARMING SAVE HITLER?’ – High heat day may have saved Hitler from an assassination attempt. Adolf Hitler survived the assassination attempt of 20 July 1944. Why? Three pieces of evidence point the way:

From “The history of the German resistance, 1933-1945” by Peter Hoffmann, p655):

…the briefing conference was normally held in a bunker and…on 20 July only it was held in a flimsy hut owing to the heat

From WikipediaHitler would have been killed had any of the three other scenarios occurred:
* both bombs detonated;
* the meeting was held inside Hitler’s bunker;
* the briefcase was not moved.

UN rejects over 1,000 journalists as COP21 security is tightened

By Sara Stefanini

The COP21 climate summit organizers have turned away more than 1,000 journalists because of tougher security following last week’s terrorist attacks in Paris.

“We had hoped to have some flexibility regarding increased media accreditation for COP21; however, due to overwhelming demand and now facing tighter security in light of recent events, we are sorry to inform you that your application has been declined,” the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change’s press office said in an e-mail sent to journalists today.

It also advises reporters not to visit the Le Bourget conference center, in northeast Paris, unless they are accredited.

The French government has promised to step up security for the two-week summit, which starts November 30.
Foreign Minister Laurent Fabius met with climate campaigners today to discuss the extent to which marches, rallies and other side events would be allowed to proceed. A decision is expected in the coming days.

Prime Minister Manuel Valls said Monday that the summit would be “reduced to negotiations.”
