According to the Boston Globe, the United Nations has issued a new climate “tipping point” by which the world must act to avoid dangerous global warming.
The Boston Globe noted on April 16, 2014: “The world now has a rough deadline for action on climate change. Nations need to take aggressive action in the next 15 years to cut carbon emissions, in order to forestall the worst effects of global warming, says the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change.”
Once again, the world is being warned of an ecological or climate “tipping point” by the UN.
As early as 1982, the UN was issuing a two decade tipping point. UN official Mostafa Tolba, executive director of the UN Environment Program (UNEP), warned on May 11, 1982, the “world faces an ecological disaster as final as nuclear war within a couple of decades unless governments act now.” According to Tolba in 1982, lack of action would bring “by the turn of the century, an environmental catastrophe which will witness devastation as complete, as irreversible as any nuclear holocaust.”
In 1989, the UN was once again trying to sell their “tipping point” rhetoric to the public. See: U.N. Not to be outdone by the UN, Former Irish President Mary Robinson weighed in this week, issuing a more generous 20 year tipping point. “Former president says we have 20 years to save the world from climate change effects…Robinson calls for climate agreement by 2015.” Robinson noted that global leaders have “at most two decades to save the world”.

Several years ago one congressman thought that the island of Gaum May tip over.
I remember that one, but I learned later that it was an inside joke between the Congressman and General – they were both friends, and it was a gag line.
That was the spin they tried to put on it, that he was talking metaphorically about a “tipping point” in the environment. And I really, really wanted to believe that to be true. That nobody could be that stupid, let alone a member of Congress. But I took the time to watch the actual video. And after he talks about the island tipping over, he says, “… and also [I am worried about the environment]. In other words, he specifically stated that he saw the environmental concerns as different from his concern about the island tipping over.
He’s the same one that addressed the House about his concern over the government’s sales of helium, out of the National Helium Reserve. (Who knew we had a National Helium Reserve?) His opening line was, “Imagine, Mr. Speaker, a world without balloons.” Got that? A sitting Congressman stands up in front of the assembled House, and begins a speech, “Imagine, Mr. Speaker, a world without balloons.” MAYBE I could expect that from a middle school speech class. But not an adult government leader.
No… he’s really that stupid. His staff went into damage control mode, and came up with the story you mentioned. But if you look and listen to the video, he definitely spoke about the environment as a separate problem. It’s so hard to believe that people are more willing to believe the cover story.

So what happens in 15 years when there is no tipping point? I guess they will issue another tipping point of X years. That way, they can’t be pinned down.
While other enviro scares will be turned to, the time left for global warming alarmism is running out. Terrestrial climate goes in cycles because its prime forcing does so.
Between the late 1930s and three decades afterwards, average Northern Hemisphere temperatures cooled by half a degree Celsius, which is what caused the global cooling scare of the 1960s-1970s, as can be seen in a plot from a 1976 National Geographic issue in the subsequent link. Then tenths of a degree warming from the late 1970s to the 1990s allowed the later global warming scare (followed by activists not mentioning how global average tropospheric temperatures have been flat to declining from 1998 through now 2014).
Yet the cooling happened for a reason, as did the Little Ice Age long before it, not manmade but quite explainable.
Now the next several decades will experience greater cooling.

The momentum of public belief is fully against them now. They know that they need to sell one more delay, so that they can force the ideology on one more young generation. I’m sure they discussed the time horizon to use. Too long, and it won’t create the proper sense of urgency. Too short, and it’s half-life will expire too soon. They know they can’t get 15 years – people will smell the decay long before that. But if they say 15 years, maybe they can get a good 7-8 years to keep scaring school children.
Sometimes you begin to wonder if some of these guys believe at least a part of what they are saying. But in 2007, when Pachauri issued his drop-dead apocalypse date of 2012, they KNEW about the “pause”. Even if everything else they had been saying was true, they knew that the trajectory had changed, and 2012 was ridiculous – even by their ridiculous standards. So, no, he couldn’t have believed his own words at that point. The whole thing was about creating a sense of panic. In fact, the more I think about it, it’s likely that it was BECAUSE they knew about “the pause” that they decided to push the doomsday talk. Because they knew even then that once word got out, their power grab would be over.
That is some seriously cynical sh*t. It’s hard not to use words like “evil” or “conspiracy” when you see something like this. Being a true believer in a stupid idea is one thing. But making those kinds of claims, on a global scale, when you know, absolutely KNOW that there is no way they can be legitimate? That’s sociopathic.

What does a plant GE designed and built decades ago have to do with their current status of paying no income taxes? Even if they had recently produced the plant, what does that have to do with tax havens? GE not paying taxes is an example of how the tax laws are written to favor special interest groups. GE taking advantage of that is not criminal, just self-serving. You should be sounding off at the politicians that make these kind of examples possible.
If we had tariffs, like the Constitution says we are supposed to have, then GE would be paying lots of taxes because most of the junk it sells is made in sweatshops overseas. Corporations are creatures of the State. Unlike real persons, corporate officers are granted by the State legal immunity from personal liability for their actions, just like politicians are. Mom and pop businesses aren’t granted that privilege by the State. It is the duty of the State to sufficiently tax and regulate that which it creates, and the State creates corporations and banks.
If you are talking about import duties, etc., that has been shown to be harmful to the overall economy not helpful. As far as Mom and Pop businesses, nothing prevents them from incorporating, nothing prevents you from setting up a corporation. I still think your beef should be with the politicians that have created the tax loopholes for these corporations. Expecting the “state” to fix the problem when the “state” has caused it seems unrealistic.

It was only a decade later that the price was deregulated and guess what happened, now we have more natural gas than we know what to do with. My point is that government is often wrong on major issues and does a tremendous amount of damage to the economy before the problem is fixed.

Al Gore has a close partnership with the former Soviet leader Gorbechev. These globalists will lye with the devil if it pays them a reward. Global warming is nothing more than a scam that will give the UN a world profit structure for corrupt polticians. Agenda 21 is a vehicle of the UN to control nation states and take away their sovereignty.

if climate change was such an issue why doesn’t Gore and groopies ride his bike to his talks vs his jets?

The UN contributes to global warming by the steam tons of methane released into the NY air from that UN building of fecal waste. We need to decapitate the UN — expel all of its top officials from the US and demand that they no longer operate in or hold sway on the U.S.
Actually, methane doesn’t actually add to global warming. In a test tube it is a global warming gas but in the atmosphere it doesn’t absorb any additional heat. the reason is that water vapor, the overwhelming greenhouse gas absorbs the exact same wave lengths of infrared light as methane. that heat is already absorbed by water vapor before the minuscule amount of methane has a chance to do anything.
So when you hear that cattle farms have to be regulated and that methane must be taxed you will know that it is just one more lie told to take property from you and put it into government’s hands.

Well, the believers have to get some ‘fix’ in the works, then they can claim their credit for saving the world. They’ll proclaim, “just imagine how bad it would have been if we hadn’t done xxx”. The fact that they have changed from global warming to climate change (where ANY change in the climate is “obviously” due to man’s influence), and their supporters haven’t lost a bit of belief, shows that they can say and get away with anything. We are dealing with some very twisted people here.
