New York City – Socialism was praised and promoted to raucous applause by the hundreds in attendance at the People’s Climate March event on September 20, featuring organizer Bill McKibben, author Naomi Klein, socialist Seattle City Council member Kshama Sawant and socialist Senator Bernie Sanders of Vermont. The event, held at the Unitarian Church of All Souls, was titled “THE CLIMATE CRISIS: WHICH WAY OUT.” The event was permeated with socialist literature with the Socialist Alternative newspaper prominently on display.

When Kshama Sawant, a socialist who won a seat on the Seattle City Council, noted she was the first socialist elected in decades, the church erupted in applause.
“A socialist world that will deliver a high standard of living for all,” Sawant said to applause.
Sawant ripped the current economic system: “The market is God, everything is being sacrificed on the altar of profits,” Sawant declared. “We must bring giant corporations into public ownership. You cannot control what you don’t own,” she added.
Senator Bernie Sanders ripped Fox News Channel: “We all know what Fox TV does not know. Climate change is real,” he said to laughter. Sanders declared the “debate is over.” “This is the planetary crisis of our time.”
“Unless we address global warming this planet will be even more unstable than it is today.” [Sanders also faced a momentary protest from the crowd for his supporting “war.” Activists unfurled a big banner in front of Sanders while he spoke.]

350.org founder and march organizer McKibben called global warming the ‘greatest crisis.’ “This is the biggest problem that humans have ever been up against,” he declared.
McKibben warned of an apocalyptic future of human caused global warming. “The science of climate change is dark and hard,” he said and warned of 8 or 9 degree F [temperature rise] before the century is out.”

During the panel discussion, Klein was asked: “Even if climate change issue did not exist, you would be calling for same structural changes. Klein responded: ‘Yeah.’
Following the panel, Climate Depot asked Klein if she would support all the same climate “solutions” even if the science was wrong.

Klein told the activists she recommended “weaving this [climate] movement into all of our movements.”
Klein also singled out Climate Depot’s Marc Morano during her panel presentation, noting that “climate deniers and Heartland Institute people like Marc Morano, who I am told is here tonight, they understand that if the science is true, if the science is right, then of course we have to break every rule in their idiotic playbook because it is at war with life on Earth. ” The audience roared with approval.
Klein noted that the “ecological clock is ticking.”
“We are dealing with an existential terror,” she added.

At this McKibben panel discussion, I was told “You cannot ask questions.” My reply was, “I have lots of questions.” Attendees recognized me and delivered long monologues on what a scurrilous human I was for “denying” global warming. When Hillary Clinton’s name was mentioned during the event, loud boos erupted throughout the room.
Author Chris Hedges was also on the panel. In an interview with Climate Depot, Hedges seemed to acknowledge the futility of governments trying to impact the climate.
Climate Depot asked him what impact he expects UN treaties or EPA regulations to have on the climate and whether he things they are worth implementing.
“It’s the difference between resisting for a slim chance of life and sort of passively accepting your own death. Why take it lying down? Lots of people have been in a situation where they realize their probably doomed. The climate science isn’t good,” Hedges explained.

LOL a Socialist world will loot anyone it sees fit… usually NOT “the rich”. Socialism confiscates from its perceived enemies. The real problem is that Socialism has infiltrated the media, schools and universities, bureaucracy, and even trust fund management. The latter provides millions of dollars in funding, as do the public sector unions. That is where these protests get their funding. That is how they can bus people in, have top quality signs, speeches all pre-cooked, the whole lot.
These “protest” rallies are really just propaganda, and are an attempt to give the impression of the cause having broad popular support… and, they are an attempt to intimidate society. Almost nothing they say is true.

Not drive their cars or take any form of transportation that doesn’t run on renewal energy, stop using plastics, get rid of their electrical-sucking devices (computers, TV’s, ect), don’t run the A/C in the summer, only set the heater in the winter to 40 F (just wear more clothes to keep warm). I have no doubt that the leaders and organizers are liars and charlatans, but how can so many of the “little” people not do their due diligence and real research into this issue? How can so many of them be so gullible, ignorant, or just plain stupid? It boggles the mind.

Planet Earth has spent 80% of it’s 4.5 Billion years with atmospheric concentrations of CO2 at 4000 ppm or greater – an order of magnitude (10X) greater than current levels of CO2 in our atmosphere – and guess what?… the Planet survived just fine… all by itself!
In fact on an existential scale – Planet Earth is experiencing historic low levels of CO2 in our atmosphere (400 ppm) – we can therefore claim with statistical justification and conviction that there is a greater chance of Planet Earth becoming a frozen and lifeless planet (much like Mars); simply because we are closer to a CO2 deficiency on the planet than we are to an over-abundance of a compound (CO2) that is essential to all plants on Earth. Carbon Dioxide also forms the very basis of the food chain in our Oceans – CO2 is consumed almost exclusively by vast quantities of algae and plankton that feed the small shrimp and krill that sustain the baitfish, who in turn are prey for the larger Ocean predators. Without CO2, our Oceans would be dead – our atmosphere would be toxic and the Planet would be lifeless!
I suppose under the auspices of the United Nations IPCC, we can expect the hype and ramped-up rhetoric to increase – soon to be augmented by the Progressive Carbon Tax, the Fresh Water Tax, the Sunshine Tax and last but not least, the Oxygen Tax!

Wanted to share a quote I recently read, “Any fourth grade history student knows Socialism has failed in every country, at every time in history. President Obama and his Democrats are either idiots or deliberately trying to destroy their own economy.” Valadimir Putin, Russian President. Also, PM Margaret Thatcher has said that Socialism will never work because sooner or later, you run out of other peoples money. Well, this President has already run up a debt in less than 6 yrs. in office of over 7 Trillion dollars obviously trying to equally distribute USA funds to the rest of the world and now America is in more debt than we can ever repay. Nope doesn’t work. Capitalism is the Individually Freest Economic System there is and look forward to the day when Government will once again allow it to work as it should. Made America the strongest, most prosperous nation on earth, was business friendly and everybody who wanted a job, had a job. We were all much better off than now.
