‘The science says Prince Charles is a fool to blame global warming for the Islamic State’

Let’s fact-check this claim.

2001:

The International Food Policy Research Institute warns that overpopulation and overstocking in the arid Middle East will make droughts worse:

Drought is a recurrent and often devastating threat to the welfare of countries in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) where three – quarters of the arable land has less than 400 mm of annual rainfall, and the natural grazings, which support a majority of the 290 million ruminant livestock, have less than 200 mm. Its impact has been exacerbated in the last half century by the human population increasing yearly at over 3%, while livestock numbers have risen by 50% over the quinquennium.

2008:

Australian researchers predict global warming will actually bring more rain to key parts of the Middle East:

The prospect of climate change sparking food shortages and water wars in the Middle East is less likely than previously thought, with new UNSW research suggesting that rainfall will be significantly higher in key parts of the region.

2010:

Syria gets a drought – like it so often does – albeit one more prolonged than most:

2011:

The drought ends, and Israel proves that rich and free societies can easily survive what poor tyrannies next door cannot:

“Israel is no longer drying up and the severe drought ended two years ago,” Water Commissioner Alexander Kushnir told “Globes TV” today [October 2, 2013]. “We’re emerging from the drought, and the water sector has stabilized at a supply rate for the next 10-15 years.”

2013:

We’re reminded that far worse has happened in Syria before, without man-made emissions being blamed:

The Akkadian empire flourished in the third millennium BC. Sometime around 2,200 BC drought hit, the lands dried and people migrated from urban centres. The government then collapsed, and the mighty empire began to falter in a series of calamities collectively referred to as the third-millennium Mesopotamian urban crisis.

2013:

In fact, the IPCC concedes there is little evidence that global warming (which has paused for 18 years) has brought more droughts around the world:

In summary, the current assessment concludes that there is not enough evidence at present to suggest more than low confidence in a global-scale observed trend in drought or dryness (lack of rainfall) since the middle of the 20th century…. Based on updated studies, AR4 conclusions regarding global increasing trends in drought since the 1970s

There is nothing like a thick juicy steak, but if Chatham House, a London based think tank gets it way the Paris climate change conference next week will recommend member countries cut down on meat consumption to help stem “global warming“. Crucially, these consumption trends are incompatible with the objective of avoiding dangerous climate change. The livestock sector is already responsible for 7.1 GtCO2 e a year of greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions – just under 15 per cent of the global total, and equivalent to tailpipe emissions from all the world’s vehicles. Rising demand means emissions will continue to rise. Even with best efforts to reduce the emissions footprint of livestock production, the sector will consume a growing share of the remaining carbon budget. This will make it extremely difficult to realize the goal of limiting the average global temperature rise to 2°C above pre-industrial levels, agreed in 2010 by parties to the UN climate change conference in Cancún. As countries prepare to agree a new international deal at the UN climate change conference in Paris in December 2015, there remains a significant gap between the emissions reductions countries have proposed and what is required for a decent chance of keeping temperature rise below 2°C. Governments need credible strategies to close the gap, and reducing meat consumption is an obvious one: worldwide adoption of a healthy diet would generate over a quarter of the emission reductions needed by 2050. In their report the think tank presented a list of globally coordinated recommendations to convert mankind from omnivores to herbivores, one of which is to raise the cost of meat. Use price. Interventions to change the relative prices of foods are likely to be among the most effective in changing consumption patterns. Opportunities include removal of direct or indirect subsidies to the livestock sector, subsidization of plant-based alternatives, or interventions to increase the price of meat and other unsustainable products, such as a carbon tax. Are they crazy? To paraphrase Moses, “I Will Give Up My Steak When They Peel It From My Cold Dead Barbecue!” They want me to celebrate the Fourth of July with veggie freaking burgers? NO WAY. This global warming nonsense has gone too far. I get it, Obama believes that this conference is a big rebuke to ISIS, but why the heck …

Take that! Obama: Climate summit a ‘powerful rebuke’ to terrorists

Via The Hill: The two leaders met in Washington a week and a half after ISIS carried out multiple terrorist attacks in Paris, killing 130, and less than a week before Obama goes to the French capital to work with world leaders on an international pact to fight climate change.

Obama struck a similar tone Sunday at a news conference in Malaysia.

“I think it is absolutely vital for every country, every leader, to send a signal that the viciousness of a handful of killers does not stop the world from doing vital business, and that Paris … is not going to be cowered by the violent, demented actions of a few,” Obama said about the upcoming climate conference.

Obama and other administration officials have been criticized for their insistence that climate change is a threat to national security on par with terrorism.

Obama and dozens of other international leaders will participate in an event at the conference Monday, but he will leave Tuesday, and the conference will continue until at least Dec. 11.

Fox News Poll: Terrorism #1 Concern as Climate Falls to Only 3%

When asked what is currently the most important issue facing the country, 24 percent of those surveyed said terrorism. That number stood at 11 percent the last time Fox News conducted the poll. Another 21 percent cited the economy as their top concern. The issue has been at top of the list for most of President Obama’s tenure in office.

The new poll also found that Americans are largely unconcerned with climate change, which the Obama administration has repeatedly pointed to as the nation’s top security threat. Only 3 percent of respondents said that global warming was the most important issue facing the country today, down from 5 percent in a Fox poll released last August.…

The Time Has Come: ‘Climate Hustle’ Set To Rock Climate Debate – Film Set for Paris Red Carpet Premier on Dec. 7

WASHINGTON, Nov. 24, 2015 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ — CFACT, a Washington, D.C.-based public policy organization that is a leading international voice for sound science and climate skepticism, is sending a delegation of science and policy experts to the UN summit on climate change in Paris, COP 21.  The summit runs November 30 to December 11.

“Since the collapse of COP 15 in Copenhagen, the UN has been trying desperately to lock the world’s nations into a new global warming treaty,” says CFACT President David Rothbard.  “With the scientific evidence mounting against them, they know this may be their last chance to do so, and bring the U.S. on board while Barack Obama is still President.”

President Obama knows a UN treaty will not be ratified by the Senate and is pushing for a non-binding “agreement” that places him at odds with other world leaders.  This is one of many crucial sticking points that indicate anything can happen at the summit.  CFACT is headed to Paris to present scientific and economic facts that detail what a crushing mistake a UN climate pact would be.

CFACT’s delegation will include retired atmospheric scientist Dr. S. Fred Singer, geologist and environmental scientist Dr. Robert Carter, and former Greenpeace co-founder Dr. Patrick Moore.

Marc Morano, publisher of CFACT’s ClimateDepot.com, one of the most visited and influential climate news and information services on the Internet, will also be part of CFACT’s Paris lineup.  He served as communications director for the U.S. Senate Environment and Public Works Committee and has worked in television, radio and print journalism.

CFACT is also announcing the world premiere of its groundbreaking new documentary in Paris, “Climate Hustle,” hosted by Morano.

“Climate Hustle” assembles an impressive group of experts in climate science and policy, many of whom worked on the UN’s climate assessments, but left after the UN ignored overwhelming evidence that contradicts its position. The film is planned for U.S. release in 2016.

“Climate Hustle” will premiere at an invitation-only event at the Cinéma du Panthéon, beside the Sorbonne, on Monday, December 7, at7:30 PM.  There will be a red-carpet ceremony and champagne reception prior to the screening.   Credentialed media that RSVP may be able to attend, but seating is very limited.

Scientist tired of ‘climate lies’ – ‘I offer $1000 to first person who can prove our emissions of CO2 cause harmful climate change’

Climate alarmists tell climate lies

http://edberry.com/blog/ed-berry/climate-alarmists-tell-climate-lies/

by Dr. Ed Berry I offer $1000 to the first person who can prove our emissions of carbon dioxide cause harmful climate change. Read below for the details. It used to be environmentalism was a good thing. Then they made it synonymous with the climate change religion. Now it is no longer a good thing. It’s a very bad thing because it’s a harmful lie. Oh. I called it a “religion.” Well, Ivar Giaever also called climate change alarmism a religion. Giaever is a Democrat who also won the 1973 Nobel Prize in Physics. It’s a religion because you “believe” it on faith rather than on physical evidence. Just to claim climate has changed or glaciers have melted does not make your case. You must show evidence our carbon dioxide emission and not nature caused the changes you claim. The only evidence climate alarmists have to support their case is hearsay. Somebody told somebody told somebody … and so ad infinitum. Therefore, they claim, it’s true. The alarmists’ fallback position is to claim 97 percent of atmospheric scientists say it’s true. Well, that’s another lie. Climate alarmists use lies to support their other lies. Here is a parallel analogy: A new study reports 97 percent of all medical doctors agree that aspirin is sufficient to solve all medical problems. Therefore, President Obama announced he will shut down all hospitals and doctor’s offices. We no longer need Medicare or Obamacare, and the government will offer free aspirin for your medical problems. That medical claim, my friend, is as scientifically sound as the alarmist claim that our carbon dioxide emissions are a threat to the planet. If you are a medical doctor, you would challenge those who promoted the above medical fraud. Now you know why I challenge those who promote the climate fraud. But if you are a climate alarmist, you are conditioned to believe lies. You reject evidence that contradicts your climate religion. Therefore, it is impossible for you to ever learn the truth. The scientific method requires us to reject our belief’s that conflict with evidence. We can believe what we wish about the world we cannot measure, but we must always check our beliefs about the physical world against what we can measure. Yesterday, I quoted these MEIC claims and said they need a reality check: Coal-fired power plants are the country’s …
