Calling the consequences of climate change ‘unthinkable’, Actor Leonardo DiCaprio says we must seek solutions that “require all of us to make real changes in the way we live our lives”.
Climate Summit for Local Leaders
Paris City Hall
Paris, France
December 4, 2015
LEONARDO DICAPRIO: “Climate change is the most fundamental and existential threat to our species. The consequences are unthinkable, and worse, it has the potential to make our planet unlivable. The solutions we seek require all of us to make real changes in the way we live our lives, operate our businesses, and govern our communities. Our future will hold greater prosperity and justice when we are free from the grip of fossil fuels.”

DiCaprio Hypocrisy?
Leonardo DiCaprio, Environmental Hypocrite: Owns at least 5 luxury homes – Flies the world
Leonardo DiCaprio: ‘I will fly around the world doing good for the environment’
In 2007, Former Vice President Al Gore appeared at the academy award 79th ceremonies in Hollywood with fellow climate activist Leonardo DiCaprio.
But just before they walked on stage, the Oscar ceremony was touting the greening of the ceremony and how ordinary Americans can lower their impact on the planet and global warming.
Columnist Charles Krauthammer writing in Time Mag (On March 16, 2007) said his personal favorite was: “Ride mass transit.” On screen text or VO – “This to a conclave of Hollywood plutocrats who have not seen the inside of a subway since the moon landing and for whom mass transit means a stretch limo seating no fewer than 10.”
(Climate Depot asks: Ride mass transit? This brings up an obvious question, when was the last time Gore or DiCaprio rode a city bus?)
Leonardo DiCaprio climate change video declares carbon dioxide to be ‘poison’!
DiCaprio fights ‘carbon monster’ in new eco-documentary featuring Joe Romm & Sen. Bernie Sanders – Leonardo DiCaprio:’We no longer need the dead economy of the fossil fuel industry.’
‘DiCaprio and climate scientists argue that coal, natural gas and other carbon-based forms of energy are a “monster” that has created catastrophic surges in the earth’s surface temperature. In response, some lawmakers around the world are tinkering with ways to make carbon more expensive, and sustainable forms of energy — such as wind power — cheap.’
DiCaprio in new video: ‘We must put a price on carbon’ – The first film in the series, titled “Carbon,” calls for more federal action to control carbon dioxide pollution. We cannot sit idly by and watch the fossil fuel industry make billions at our collective expense. We must put a price on carbon — now,” DiCaprio said in a statement. The eight-minute long film argues that a tax should be placed on carbon in order to keep global temperatures below 2 degrees Celsius.
Papa Gore?!
DiCaprio sees former Vice President Al Gore as a father figure and the greatest influence on him when it came to global warming
“I actually got to meet Al Gore, who — I asked him what was the, you know, the most important environmental issue in the world, and he, without hesitation, said ‘global warming’ and literally took me, you know, like a child and wrote out a chart and explained what global warming was and how, um, basically because of, you know, carbon emissions in our atmosphere, we’re going to, you know, change our climate forever,” DiCaprio said in an interview with Charlie Rose on PBS in a 2005 interview.

Except in the way he lives his life.
This all about the elite dictating how everone else should live–but not them.
Actors are so stupid. They are not shy about showing their stupidity, or their hypocrisy, either.
RE: LEONARDO DICAPRIO: “Bankruptcy is the most fundamental and existential threat to my career. The consequences are unthinkable, and worse, it has the potential to make my life unlivable. The solutions I seek require all of you to make real changes in the way I live my life, operate my businesses, and govern your communities. My future will hold greater prosperity and justice when I’m free from the grip of debts.”
He never got over the Titanic sinking. Did he never ask himself why the iceberg was so far south? There was a warming period from 1900 to the 1940’s.
Oh my gosh. If an actor of such stature and brilliance as Mr DeCaprio, who towers above the puny efforts of such hams as Alec Guiness, Paul Scofield, Laurence Olivier, John Gielgud and Orson Welles, wants us to change our lives well, by George, we’d better get out there and do it!!
And, by “all of us” he means all of you little people, right? Not sure I can envision Leo gardening in the backyard waste deep in corn and beans….. splitting wood for heat …. walking to the stream for water…..hunting the wild LA basin stag….
He actually did have coke blown up his chute. Now…. I think he suffers from cranial lead deficiency.
In my opinion, DiCaprio and his ilk exist to entertain me, nothing else. What they think, say, or do beyond the role of entertaining me is completely irrelevant. In reality, they are nothing more than court jesters and exist solely to entertain.
Is this the same Leo dicaprio who bought an uninhabited totally undeveloped island , then kicked off the local subsistence fisherman who used to stop there on their way to market in order to build an energy intensive butt ugly billion dollar exclusive Eco resort for the uber rich at sea level in the heart of hurricane alley ? Complete with artificially enhanced air , lighting and reefs the better to enjoy the natural world . Only by exploiting a third world country with weak environmental protection laws could this kind of Eco resort ever be built . In nearby Eco conscious Costa Rica development is banned in the first 100meters of shoreline which is considered public property . Dicaprio makes Exxon look like Snow White for environmental sensitivity and social conscience . I can understand him being that clueless about the hypocrisy but how can the UN hold him up as role model .? He did say he wanted to use it for environmental conferences
DiCaprio’s love of private jet transportation, yacht vacations, and limo rides points to the fact he’s just another rich hypocrite.
And how is Len-ard Dee-cap-ryo and expert on anything ?
He should stand examination to prove expertise before saying anything .
This idiot thinks he has a right to interrupt and steal another reporters time, what a piece of trash. “I have a right to ask a question!!” no moron, you have a right to sit down and shut up until you’re called on to ask a question. What a jerk.
