Watch: Leonardo DiCaprio tells UN Summit: Climate action ‘requires all of us to make real changes in the way we live our lives’

Calling the consequences of climate change ‘unthinkable’, Actor Leonardo DiCaprio says we must seek solutions that “require all of us to make real changes in the way we live our lives”.

Climate Summit for Local Leaders
Paris City Hall
Paris, France
December 4, 2015

LEONARDO DICAPRIO: “Climate change is the most fundamental and existential threat to our species. The consequences are unthinkable, and worse, it has the potential to make our planet unlivable. The solutions we seek require all of us to make real changes in the way we live our lives, operate our businesses, and govern our communities. Our future will hold greater prosperity and justice when we are free from the grip of fossil fuels.”

  1. RE: LEONARDO DICAPRIO: “Bankruptcy is the most fundamental and existential threat to my career. The consequences are unthinkable, and worse, it has the potential to make my life unlivable. The solutions I seek require all of you to make real changes in the way I live my life, operate my businesses, and govern your communities. My future will hold greater prosperity and justice when I’m free from the grip of debts.”

  2. He never got over the Titanic sinking. Did he never ask himself why the iceberg was so far south? There was a warming period from 1900 to the 1940’s.

  3. Oh my gosh. If an actor of such stature and brilliance as Mr DeCaprio, who towers above the puny efforts of such hams as Alec Guiness, Paul Scofield, Laurence Olivier, John Gielgud and Orson Welles, wants us to change our lives well, by George, we’d better get out there and do it!!

  4. And, by “all of us” he means all of you little people, right? Not sure I can envision Leo gardening in the backyard waste deep in corn and beans….. splitting wood for heat …. walking to the stream for water…..hunting the wild LA basin stag….

  5. In my opinion, DiCaprio and his ilk exist to entertain me, nothing else. What they think, say, or do beyond the role of entertaining me is completely irrelevant. In reality, they are nothing more than court jesters and exist solely to entertain.

  6. Is this the same Leo dicaprio who bought an uninhabited totally undeveloped island , then kicked off the local subsistence fisherman who used to stop there on their way to market in order to build an energy intensive butt ugly billion dollar exclusive Eco resort for the uber rich at sea level in the heart of hurricane alley ? Complete with artificially enhanced air , lighting and reefs the better to enjoy the natural world . Only by exploiting a third world country with weak environmental protection laws could this kind of Eco resort ever be built . In nearby Eco conscious Costa Rica development is banned in the first 100meters of shoreline which is considered public property . Dicaprio makes Exxon look like Snow White for environmental sensitivity and social conscience . I can understand him being that clueless about the hypocrisy but how can the UN hold him up as role model .? He did say he wanted to use it for environmental conferences

  7. This idiot thinks he has a right to interrupt and steal another reporters time, what a piece of trash. “I have a right to ask a question!!” no moron, you have a right to sit down and shut up until you’re called on to ask a question. What a jerk.
