CBS This Morning featured a futurist who promotes paranormal phenomena like ‘telepathy, telekinesis and mind reading’ as climate expert during its February 13 broadcast. CBS only identified physicist Michio Kaku ([email protected]) as a New York City College professor, with no mention of his special abilities. Kaku’s website (http://mkaku.org/home/) promotes his book: “THE FUTURE OF THE MIND: The scientific quest to understand, enhance, and empower the mind.” And his quest to promote: “Telepathy. Telekinesis. Mind reading. Photographing a dream. Uploading memories. Mentally controlled robots.”
Kaku claims all of “these feats” have already been achieved. “These feats, once considered science fiction, have now been achieved in the laboratory, as documented in THE FUTURE OF THE MIND,” Kaku’s website declares.
Kaku notes that his “book goes even further, analyzing when one day we might have a complete map of the brain, or a back up Brain 2.0, which may allow scientists to send consciousness throughout the universe.”
Kaku’s global warming comments were not well received by the scientific community:
Meteorologist Dr. Ryan Maue of Weather Bell tweeted on Kaku: He’s ‘like a festering wound on field of meteorology, Michio Kaku says ‘we think’ harsh winter is due to global warming,” Maue wrote.
“Kaku has no effing clue what he is talking about – ‘unstable jet stream’ — huh? How could someone supposedly so learned sound so doltish?,” Maue asked on Feburary 13, 2014.
“Must apologize to Bill Nye — he is now number 2 most egregious butcher of meteorology and climate science. New rankings come out weekly,” Maue quipped.
Houston Chronicle climate reporter Eric Berger joined in the Kaku bashing, noting Kaku is “a physicist (and not a well-regarded one among his peers) not an atmospheric scientist.”

come on, Michio Kaku is a theoretical physicist. Although he shouldn’t have been asked to touch on the climate issue, I don’t think it completely fair to down what he does on Alex Jones (Feb. 13th transmission). He works with THEORIES. Saying that telepathy is perposturous is kind of limiting. Do I think it exists? Personally, no. Do I think it’s possible? Who knows? And who is anyone to say anything is impossible or improbable. He’s just an entertaining guy. I hold nothing against him even though the stuff he talks about are strange. I will still watch him…but by now, most people should be well aware that the mainstream media outlets are nothing more than entertainment anyway. They are a joke. I don’t take any of it very seriously. The real news can be found online.

When we are talking about the temperature of the atmosphere we are talking about physics and thermodynamic. When we are talking about “climate” we are talking about the history of temperature and the average pattern of historical data. Climate is the average pattern of thousand of days of weather for one location or region.
I’d lay my bet on the physicists & meteorologists to know a hell of a lot more than the average climatologist about what causes the weather , I’d also bet on the astrophysics who study the solar energy output than I’d believe the average climatologist who think that the Hypotheses of the greenhouse gas effect exist. As an environmental engineer with more than 50 years of environmental systems design my first question is “Where the hell is there a credible experiment that proves that the Hypotheses of the greenhouse gas effect exists? After more that 6 years of asking this very basic question wherever I can, no one ,not the nitwits at the Union of corrupt scientists, the members of Sigma Xi where I’ve been a member for more than 50 years and many other organizations including NAS (who accepted the failed IPCC reports without ever testing then for correctness) have been able to produce an answer. Any organization that has accepted the Hypotheses of the GHGE by “consensus” shows that they are not really scientists, they are political hacks. Let the all mighty dollar control the Pretend scientific world.

The below information was a foot note in the IPCC 4 edition. It is
obvious that there was no evidence to prove that the ghg effect
exists.
“In the 1860s, physicist John Tyndall recognized the Earth’s natural
greenhouse effect and suggested that slight changes in the atmospheric composition could bring about climatic variations. In 1896, a seminal paper by Swedish scientist Svante Arrhenius first speculated
that changes in the levels of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere could
substantially alter the surface temperature through the greenhouse
effect.”
After
1909 when R.W.Wood proved that the understanding of the greenhouse
effect was in error and the ghg effect does not exist. After Niels
Bohr published his work and receive a Nobel Prize in Physics in 1922.
The fantasy of the greenhouse gas effect should have died in 1909 and
1922. Since then it has been shown by several physicists that the
concept is a Violation of the Second Law of Thermodynamics.
Obviously the politicians don’t give a dam that they are lying. It fits in
with what they do every hour of every day .Especially the current
pretend president.

We are manufacturing too many solar panels and it is beginning to drain the sun’s
power. Pretty soon the sun will go dark and it will plunge the earf into darkness. We need to ration the number of solar panels to control the energy we tap from the sun.
Same thing for the wind. There are too many wind turbines being built and we are beginning to run out of wind. We must be careful not to build too many wind turbines.
And the birds. There are too many birds that are being smashed by the turbines! Pretty soon our rare shorebirds will become extinct! Stop the senseless killing!

This is unfortunate. Kaku knows his QM, but when physicists reach a certain age, we get “philosophical”, i.e. a little loopy and deranged — it goes w/ the territory.
Climate Science is an extremely complex problem, way beyond the toy models of spherical cows…and even if ACC were true, we’re going to keep our children warm/cool. Politics.
So if Michio is such a marvelous mind along with his other two-bit loser academic climate personalities scattered amongst some second tier universities how come they didn’t predict cold weather would happen a long time before now?

If I’m not mistaken, his name is pronounced KAAAHKU not KAYKU. He’s been on Coast to Coast AM a lot. Surprised CBS is having him on as an expert on “climate change,” because he is quite “fringe” but I do sometimes find all his talk about consciousness and telepathy to be interesting. That said, if a climate “denier” was talking telepathy you know he’d never be on CBS in the first place. Double standard for sure, but you don’t need to bash Kaku so much (while getting his name wrong). Heard you making fun of his name on Alex Jones and it was just a bit juvenile. You need to take a higher ground if you want people to take you seriously.
To put it gently, Kaku-san is not overly tolerant when it comes to people euphemistically labeled as “climate skeptics.”
Dr. Pielke takes this nonsense too seriously. There are always going to be scam artists our there. Dr. Pielke doesn’t appreciate anyone pretending to be a scientist. Dr. Kaku reminds me of those Three Stooges episodes where Moe, Larry and Curly are pretending to be scientists. Professor Kaku’s theories seem to something that the Three Stooges might have concocted. Anyway, I find Dr. Kaku to be hilarious. The fact that anyone takes him or John Holdren seriously is what is deplorable. And, the fact that CBS News repeats his nonsense is pretty bad.
