CBS featured ‘futurist’ who promotes paranormal phenomena of ‘Telepathy, Telekinesis, & Mind reading’ as climate expert blaming record cold on ‘global warming’

CBS This Morning featured a futurist who promotes paranormal phenomena like ‘telepathy, telekinesis and mind reading’ as climate expert during its February 13 broadcast. CBS only identified physicist Michio Kaku ([email protected]) as a New York City College professor, with no mention of his special abilities. See: CBS Blames Global Warming for Harsh Winter Weather: Prof. Michio Kaku: ‘Excess heat generated by all this warm water is destabilizing this gigantic bucket of cold air….So that’s the irony, that heating could cause gigantic storms of historic proportions

Kaku’s website (http://mkaku.org/home/) promotes his book: “THE FUTURE OF THE MIND: The scientific quest to understand, enhance, and empower the mind.” And his quest to promote: “Telepathy. Telekinesis. Mind reading. Photographing a dream. Uploading memories. Mentally controlled robots.”

Kaku claims all of “these feats” have already been achieved. “These feats, once considered science fiction, have now been achieved in the laboratory, as documented in THE FUTURE OF THE MIND,” Kaku’s website declares.

Kaku notes that his “book goes even further, analyzing when one day we might have a complete map of the brain, or a back up Brain 2.0, which may allow scientists to send consciousness throughout the universe.”

Kaku’s global warming comments were not well received by the scientific community:

‘No effing clue what he is talking about’: Meteorologist Dr. Ryan Maue Calls Warmist Physics Prof. Michio Kaku of NY City College ‘a festering wound on field of meteorology’ for Kaku’s blaming ‘excess heat’ on record cold and snow

Meteorologist Dr. Ryan Maue of Weather Bell tweeted on Kaku: He’s ‘like a festering wound on field of meteorology, Michio Kaku says ‘we think’ harsh winter is due to global warming,” Maue wrote.

“Kaku has no effing clue what he is talking about – ‘unstable jet stream’ — huh? How could someone supposedly so learned sound so doltish?,” Maue asked on Feburary 13, 2014.

“Must apologize to Bill Nye — he is now number 2 most egregious butcher of meteorology and climate science. New rankings come out weekly,” Maue quipped.

Houston Chronicle climate reporter Eric Berger joined in the Kaku bashing, noting Kaku is “a physicist (and not a well-regarded one among his peers) not an atmospheric scientist.”

CBS BLAMES GLOBAL WARMING FOR BAD WINTER – During the February 13 broadcast of CBS This Morning, host Charlie Rose and his guest turned to the topic of this year’s harsh winter, calling the extreme cold an example of global warming.

Guest Michio Kaku, a physics professor from New York City College–not a climatologist, but a physicist–claimed that the “wacky weather” could get “even wackier” and its all because of global warming. “What we’re seeing is that the jet stream and the polar vortex are becoming unstable. Instability of historic proportions. We think it’s because of the gradual heating up of the North Pole. The North Pole is melting,” professor Kaku said.

“That excess heat generated by all this warm water is destabilizing this gigantic bucket of cold air… So that’s the irony, that heating could cause gigantic storms of historic proportions,” the prof explained.

Obama Science Adviser John Holdren: ‘Weather practically everywhere is being caused by climate change’ – Prof. Roger Pielke Jr. Slams Holdren for promoting ‘zombie science’

The Hill excerpt Feb. 14, 2014:

John Holdren, said without any doubt the severe drought plaguing California and a number of other states across the country are tied to climate change. “Weather practically everywhere is being caused by climate change,” Holdren said. The administration’s fund would invest in research to gather data on the impacts of climate change, help communities prepare for the impacts, and support innovative technologies and infrastructure to ready the country “in the face of a changing climate.”

When asked if talk of climate change tied to extreme weather events like California’s drought by Obama would become more frequent, Holdren said it already has been a recurring talking point for the president. Holdren added: “You can expect the president will talk about the connection between increasing frequency in the intensity of drought and climate change on Friday” and in the future.

Professor Roger Pielke Jr. Slams Holdren for promoting ‘zombie science’ (Dr. Roger Pielke Jr. is a prof. of env. studies at the Center for Science and Technology Policy Research at the U. of Colorado at Boulder.)

Pielke Jr. tweeted on February 14, 2014 that Holdren was contradicting the UN IPCC reports: ‘John Holdren vs. IPCC on drought. Holdren said: ‘We are seeing droughts in drought-prone regions becoming more frequent, more severe and longer.” But the IPCC in 2013 notes there is ‘not enough evidence at present to suggest more than low confidence in a global-scale observed trend in drought.’

Pielke added: ‘IPCC on drought ‘low-confidence’ vs. Holdren ‘one of the better-understood dimensions’ –  Paging IPCC authors, climate scientists — anyone care?’

Pielke refuted Holdren’s claim that “global climate change is increasing the intensity and the frequency and the life of drought.’

Pielke countered, citing peer-reviewed studies: Nature paper 2012 ‘Little change in global drought over the past 60 years.’ And a US Govt report noted ‘droughts have, for the most part, become shorter, less frequent and cover a smaller portion of the US over the last century’

Pielke concluded: “That’s right, thanks. The zombies will always be with us. But it is brazen for zombie science to show up in the White House!” He added, “If climate scientists want more credibility they are going to have to look at wrong things said by their political friends, not just enemies.”

Watch Now: Climate Depot’s Morano on Fox News on Olympians urging new UN climate treaty: ‘105 Olympians actually believe that a UN treaty will impact winter Olympics. That is a frightening thought’ – ‘Almost 2800 Olympians who did not sign on to this letter’

Daily Caller excerpt: ClimateDepot founder Marc Morano ridiculed Olympians who signed onto a letter urging a U.N. global warming treaty in the wake of low snow totals for the Sochi Olympics, noting that record snow is occurring throughout the world and they picked “the most southern Russian city with palm trees.”

Morano spoke with Fox News’ Neil Cavuto about the letter, which saw over 100 Olympic athletes write a letter claiming climate change “threatens” this and future Winter Olympics. They highlighted the importance of signing a comprehensive, global climate change treaty at a 2015 U.N. meeting on global warming.

But Morano pointed out that Sochi’s position in Russia — thousands of miles south of Moscow and not far from the Turkish maritime border — lends the resort town an almost tropical feel that doesn’t produce much snow. Meanwhile, vast swathes of the Northern Hemisphere, including the storm-socked East Coast, remain buried under snow and ice.

Someone should have told them that Sochi is one of the most Southern Russian cities and its most famous summer resort. At least that’s how it used to work in the communist era. As a schoolkid, I would hear about Sochi pretty often. Apparatchiks would enjoy many of their summers in Sochi. Stalin himself had the most favorite personal summer cottage in Sochi. I understand that the American and other readers may be unfamiliar with Sochi but Sochi, a Black Sea resort, was a kind of the Soviet answer to Florida and California’
