This indicates daytime cooling.

One point for it being ignorance on your part, the Gulf Stream is an oceanic current off the East Coast, and does have an effect on east coast whether–but I bet you meant the Jet Stream, and just aren’t bright enough to have written it correctly. The Jet stream being diverted explains nothing, because it’s been as unusually high as it has been low in latitude.

In the last couple of years, we have set records for the coldest land temperature recorded outside of antarctica, the coldest June ever recorded for antarctica, with numerous all time low minimums and maximums being set around the world. Looks like we are perhaps in for a new Little Ice Age. BTW, cold has killed more people than heat throughout the history of man. Civilizations have flourished during the warm periods and have stagnated or regressed during the cold spells due to starvation, disease, war (fighting over more scarce resources) and basic survival.
We have a “little ice age” on our doorsteps due to a prolonged period of solar inactivity. There will be massive crop failures in the North due to cold temperatures even in the summers. 1 – the number of record lows being more than the number of record highs does nothing to address the actual average temperature. If each record high is 5 degrees difference and each record low is 1 degree difference, it is still possible for the system to warm while breaking more cooling records. I would have hoped this is obvious.
2 – climate is not the study of temperatures of the US, it is study of global temperatures. Think of putting an ice cube in a glass of water; the water cools but the system as a whole gains energy until it reaches ambient temperature. One would expect temperatures across many parts of the world to cool in wake of melting polar ice and rising polar temperatures. This is 1st grade thermodynamics.

Lefties only use the ice pack measurement data which is at the lowest level during the summer months and start where the summer ice pack was at its highest points from 1978 -1982. They also fail to mention that no matter what the level of the ice pack in the summer months that the ice pack grows back to its relative normal levels during the winter. Go figure, the ice pack size is cyclical based on the season! Wow, I bet this is never mentioned.

Here in Illinois, it’s a record cool summer. We’re talking BIG records. Last summer at this time, the local TV weather forecasters were going crazy about two July nights where lows dipped into the 50s. It was big news because July nights around here are ALWAYS warm and humid with lows in the upper 60s to upper 70s. So far this July, we’ve had 11 nights in the 50s, including several nights in the low 50s. The forecast right now is calling for lows in the 50s for the last 5 days of July. That means half of our July nights this year will have been in the 50s, which one local weatherman last night called “unheard of.” Also, we’ve had 12 July days (so far) where the daily high didn’t get above 80, which is another record. Average high/low for this time of year is 90/70. The forecast for the next five days is 77/57 74/54 76/55 76/56 78/55.
