Climate activist Bill McKibben, who was key organizer of the NYC climate march in September 2014, wasted no time in blaming the massive blizzard bearing down on the Northeast on ‘global warming.’ McKibben tweeted on Monday:

Not to be outdone, New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo joined in:
Scientists were not impressed. Prof. Roger Pielke Jr., an extreme weather expert, mocked Cuomo’s claim. “Uh-huh, sure there is,” Pielke Jr. tweeted in response to Cuomo’s claims.

But what McKibben, Gov. Cuomo and Bill Nye left out was that less snowfalls were predicted to happen with ‘global warming’. The UN IPCC was very clear in its predictions: See: In 2001, the IPCC predicted milder winters and less snow. UN IPCC Lead Author Michael Oppenheimer was also very clear in his predictions: See: NYT in 2000 quoted ‘Oppenheimer on the pathetic spectacle of the unused sled in his stairwell, symbol of a warming world: ‘I bought a sled in ’96 for my daughter,’ said Oppenheimer, a scientist at the nonprofit Environmental Defense Fund. ‘It’s been sitting in the stairwell, and hasn’t been used. I used to go sledding all the time. It’s one of my most vivid and pleasant memories as a kid, hauling the sled out to Cunningham Park in Queens.’
Also in 2000, scientists in the UK boldly predicted the end of snow due to ‘global warming.’ See: Flashback 2000: ‘Snowfalls are now just a thing of the past’: According to Dr David Viner, a senior research scientist at the climatic research unit (CRU) of the University of East Anglia,within a few years winter snowfall will become ‘a very rare and exciting event. Children just aren’t going to know what snow is.’

Ryan Maue is quick to point out that just the opposite is likely the result—that the elevated sea surface temperatures actually act to make such storms tamer. If this were happening in August they might have a story but in North America in January/February it snows.Duh !
I’m 56 years young and from the time I was a little kid, the weather was always an interesting topic because of how weird it could be, and nothing has changed. There are hundreds of variables that give us thousands of outcomes. Wait long enough and it will happen. Mankind has no impact. Zip.
20 binary variables give over 1 million combinations. Imagine the number of combinations you get with weather variables.
If you want solid scientific information about climate change and blizzards aren’t the first people you think of are McKibben (English major from Harvard) or maybe Chris Mooney (English major from Yale). If you look at those who push AGW hardest they’re almost always liberal arts scientific imbeciles.
I am curious, what type weather would be considered evidence of global cooling? Something happened in the lead up and entry into the ice ages…what was it?
Bill has always followed in the footsteps of his daddy, always wanting to be the rebel, never being dark skinned enough or under privileged enough to be a victim but always wanting to be of the victim class. Bill, never having worked to produce anything that has been of any benefit or value to those in real need sucks us dry of our vitality and pisses on the poor with unwelcome words that are not the worth of a cup of rice to those who suffer because of his righteousness! Bill?…He does not think of the words he speaks, he repeats the words of Gore, Hanson, Mann, Schmitt and other papered fools and liars who pay his bills and give him his words, his food and his fossil fueled life style. Bill, give up your current lifestyle, give away your car and house and take on the burlap and ashes. Bill go forth to a third world county of your choice and cook over a dung pile with your wife and child in a stick hut for 5 years. When you have survived that and have accomplished something to get YOUR victims in Africa out of their life happen stance, then YOU can come talk to us about mother earth and green hope! Well, for those that missed the big CAGW-induced NE blizzard, don’t feel bad….so did the rest of us. The ‘historic’ blizzard fizzled. Another failed model?
Regardless, with the predicted CAGW-blamed blizzard failing to materialize, I assume we ALL now can state unequivocally that global warming is over.
Too bad for DeBlasio and Coumo. They really wanted a big headline storm so it could be tied to Global Warming.

basically, any weather that happens or does not happen is “proof” of global warming for the alarmists. in 2005 when florida had an over active hurricane season, it was blamed on warming ocean temps, and the “experts” said it would get worse and worse every year, remember??? in the beginning of hurricane season the “experts” predict 14 storms, and in recent years there has been few or ZERO. florida has not had a hurricane in over 9 years, does anyone of these phony “experts” have an explanation for this, or do they simply ignore it?? this g.w. is the biggest farce in the history of mankind, and that’s saying something considering all the madness that has taken place in human history.
Would one of you Climate Scientists please identify, specifically, what observable conditions would falsify AGW? Seriously, I want to know.

It is interesting to note that almost all of the snow minimums occur at or around (+2 years) a solar maximum.
If you have a theory that makes predictions that never come true and needs a careful ‘adjustment’ of the raw data to make your case, that isn’t science. It’s conjecture. The language of the True Believers in AGW is not scientific, but religious– the Deniers should be thrown out of the scientific world, shunned, and demonized. Those who disagree are stupid and evil. That’s not how real science is done.What is particularly dishonest is that they measure the warming period from the end of the Little Ice Age, which means we are in a warming trend for the last two hundred years, which they blame on the Industrial revolution. It has been much warmer and much colder in human history. No one has proven that we have any significant effect on the world climate.
Of COURSE there is climate change. There always has been. What is arrogant beyond all belief is the idea that we control the climate, or could control the climate if only we were willing to cripple our economy and put all economic decisions in the hands of the Good and Wise people who know better than we do. Nonsense. Climate is not stable, and we cannot call this last century normal and claim that we can somehow ‘stabilize’ it by controlling tiny changes in a perfectly harmless glass necessary for life on earth.
Tell you what. When any of the predictions of twenty years ago come true, which they haven’t, get back to me on the AGW thing. Until then, it’s a scientific fad with those who have a financial stake in continuing the idea on one side and those who do not on the other..
