Obama: Rising Seas Could Swallow STATUE OF LIBERTY, Ellis Island
Video-Climate change is threatening to submerge the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island, Pres. Obama warned Monday in a speech at Yosemite National Park.
Climate change is also causing birds to fly north when the weather gets hot, Obama cautioned. As a result, rising seas threaten to engulf “icons like the Statue of Liberty,” Obama said:
“As we look ahead, in the coming years and decades, rising temperatures could mean no more glaciers at Glacier National Park. No more Joshua Trees at Joshua Tree National Park. Rising seas could destroy vital ecosystems in the Everglades, and at some point could even threaten icons like the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island.”

John Kerry Signs UN Climate Deal With Granddaughter Seated in His Lap
In a symbolic photo opportunity designed to remind the public of its duty to protect the health of future generations, Secretary of State John Kerry brought his young granddaughter with him to the United Nations as he signed an international commitment to curb the pace of global warming.
Over 150 nations are expected to sign the agreement today, a truly historic feat based on a previous accord set in Paris that aims to limit the Earth’s temperature to 1.5 or 2 degrees Celsius above pre-industrial levels.

President Obama guest starred in last night’s episode of Running Wild With Bear Grylls on NBC. Fans of the show know Grylls as a handsome, rugged Brit who’s a former solider and will do just about anything to survive in the wilderness. The episode was filmed back in September when Obama was in Alaska on the last leg of his U.S. climate action tour. The president snapped this awesome selfie with the British adventurer…
Obama is hoping the episode will draw attention to the impacts of climate change. “I’ve two daughters, and I don’t want grandkids too soon, but eventually I hope to have some. And I want to make sure that this is there for them, not just us,” said Obama, as they hiked in the Kenai Mountains.
He said he’s focusing on climate change because “I think it will have a more significant impact on the lives of future generations as just about anything. And we’re still a long way from getting it right but it’s something that, working together, I think we can make a difference on.”
About 50 Secret Service personnel, a food taster, snipers and helicopters were all on hand, but Grylls said Obama wanted it to be as authentic as possible. “He didn’t have any problems. He wanted the physicality … he was up for everything,” Grylls said.

Speaking to an audience of mostly federal employees at the 2015 GreenGov Symposium, EPA Administrator Gina McCarthy mocks suggestions that EPA is violating the federal Anti-Lobbying Act by employing tactics to influence the public to advocate in support of EPA’s rules.
GINA MCCARTHY: “You know, I was recently criticized for actually doing a tremendous amount of outreach. That’s the kind of criticism that I would really welcome. [Laughter] It was very painful for me to read how successful we’ve been for getting people to comment on our rules. You know. [Laughter] I should learn to stay in that closet that people want me in, but we’re not, and I don’t think any of you should. I think you have to hold your head up high. You have to talk about what you’re doing, why it’s creative, why it matters, and do the best we can to do the outreach so that others begin to have ripples of their own. And, it will connect, and it will work.”
