Obama Lauds ‘Historic Day’ in Fight Against Climate Change As UN Agreement To Take Effecdt
Calling it a “historic day” and a possible “turning point for the planet,” President Barack Obama lauded the landmark Paris climate agreement, which takes effect Nov. 4.
“This gives us the best possible shot to save the one planet we’ve got,” Obama said in remarks in the Rose Garden at the White House.
While the deal will help delay some of the most pressing threats posed by climate change, he said, it alone “will not solve the climate crisis.”
“No nation, not even one as powerful as ours, can solve this challenge alone. All of us have to solve it together,” Obama said.
Under the terms of the deal, it goes into effect 30 days after it is ratified by at least 55 signatory nations accounting for at least 55 percent of global greenhouse gas emissions. Seventy-three countries — including some of the world’s largest emitters, like China, India and the U.S. — have now formally adopted the agreement.…

Politicians who don’t believe in climate change should not hold public office, said actor Leonardo DiCaprio Monday at the White House before the screening of his new climate documentary.
“The scientific consensus is in and the argument is now over,” DiCaprio said at the White House’s South By South Lawn event.
“If you do not believe in climate change, you do not believe in facts, or in science or empirical truths and therefore, in my humble opinion, should not be allowed to hold public office.”
DiCaprio screened his film “Before the Flood,” a documentary about climate change. Ahead of the screening, he spoke on a panel with President Obama.
“Climate change is almost perversely designed to be really hard to solve politically. It is a problem that creeps up on you,” Obama said.
“The political system in every country is not well designed to do something tough now to solve a problem that people will really feel the impact of in the future.”
In the film, DeCaprio travels to Greenland, the Pacific Islands, Sumatra and industrial regions of China to show the impacts of climate change.
DiCaprio, and the film’s director, Fisher Stevens, hope to use it in the run-up to next month’s presidential and Senate elections, according to The Guardian.
They plan to show it on college campuses and across swing states. It will be released via National Geographic later this month.…

The Clinton campaign promised during the Democratic primary that their entire operation would be “carbon neutral” and had some friendly reporters write stories about how even campaign manager John Podesta took the bus.
The campaign doesn’t talk about that pledge much anymore, given the how much the Clintons love flying on private jets, presumably out of class envy. They may be rich AF, but it must annoy them to have to attend campaign fundraiser with so many hedge fund managers who are even richer AF than they are and own their own private jets.
For example, Bill Clinton has flown on billionaire pedophile Jeffrey Epstein‘s private jet, affectionately nicknamed the “Lolita Express,” on numerous occasions.
Hillary, meanwhile, hates flying on commercial aircraft with commoners; she oncedescribed it as “burdensome,” but that might also be due to the fact that she is very old and mobility challenged.
Flying on private jets, which are terrible for the environment, to attend allegedly pro-environment functions is a favorite pastime of ultra-wealthy celebrities, such as Leonardo DiCaprio.

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — A West Michigan 11-year-old is taking his knowledge of global climate change beyond the classroom.
Monday, Bryce Madder of Ada announced the launch of Polar Army, a nonprofit website to teach children about the impact global warming has on polar bears.
Bryce, a fifth-grader, spoke at the Grand Rapids Children’s Museum, announcing that kids of all ages can now be a part of the Polar Army by posting pictures and paintings of polar bears.
“I first learned about global warming about a year ago. I was in school and I found out by 2040, all the world’s sea ice will disappear. By 2050, we could actually lose two-thirds of polar bears, and that just really bothered me,” Bryce said.
Founded by 11 year old, Bryce Madder, Polar Army is an educational Non-Profit Company for kids dedicated to saving polar bears. Polar Army aims to educate children about global warming, its impact on the Arctic, and ways to reduce carbon dioxide emissions. It does this through a global art initiative, youth ambassador program, school partnerships, brand/corporate sponsors, and business collaborations.

Black Lives Matter has gone Climate in a big way, with a protest which shut down London City Airport. London City Airport is a premium facility located in the heart of London, near one of London’s major financial / banking districts.

Police arrest seven of nine people chained to tripod on runway in protest against impact of air pollution on black people.
Flights have been cancelled at London’s City airport after nine protesters from Black Lives Matter UK got on to the runway and chained themselves together.
The airport said all flights were disrupted and that police were at the scene.

The campaign said it carried out the protest to highlight the environmental impact of air travel on the lives of black people locally and globally.
It posted images of protesters lying on the runway after unfurling banners.
