EPA Chief: ‘People Have to Start Living a Life That’s Commensurate with Reductions in Greenhouse Gases’
(CNSNews.com) -“People have to start living a life that’s commensurate with reductions in greenhouse gases,” EPA Administrator Gina McCarthy said while discussing the recent global deal to limit the use of hydrofluorocarbons (HFCs) used in air-conditioning and refrigeration.
During a social media discussion with Mashable last week, McCarthy said that fighting climate change will “not have to be just what government does, but it has to be what people do.”
“People have to start living a life that’s commensurate with reductions in greenhouse gases to the extent they can,” McCarthy said. “But also, as you said- demand government to be responsive to this.”
“But I would waste no time with climate deniers, if they haven’t figured it out by now, what in God’s name can anyone say to them to make them figure it out,” McCarthy continued. “The science is overwhelming. I don’t check out Flat Earth Society, and I’m not talking to climate deniers – that’s it.”
In the past, the president of the Flat Earth Society has spoken out in support of the theory of climate change.
According to recent survey by the Pew Research Center, nearly three-quarters of Americans don’t trust that there is a large “scientific consensus” amongst climate scientists on human behavior being the cause of climate change.
Earlier this month the US signed on to a global deal that caps and reduces the use of HFCs. The White House claims the deal will “could avoid up to 0.5 degrees C of warming by the end of the century” by cutting production and consumption of HFCs “by more than 80 percent over the next 30 years.”
Actor Mark Ruffalo calls Obama ‘immoral’ at climate rally for allowing fracking
Hollywood star Mark Ruffalo accused US President Barack Obama on Sunday of hypocrisy for allowing fracking and other fossil fuel extraction while presenting himself as a green president.
The Oscar-nominated “Spotlight” and “Avengers” actor spoke out at a rally in Los Angeles protesting against man-made climate change and, in particular, the controversial Dakota Access Pipeline, the site of escalating protests in recent weeks.
“President Obama, it is immoral for you to keep drilling in our state lands, in our federal lands, off our federal waters, while at the same time calling yourself a climate change leader,” he said.
Ruffalo, 48, recently narrated and produced “Dear President Obama: The Clean Energy Revolution Is Now,” a critical documentary on the outgoing head-of-state’s environmental legacy.…
Kerry Praises Obama: ‘He Has Been Able to Circumvent Congress’ on Climate Change

In between waxing poetic about the coming climate apocalypse and exchanging no less than two dozen self-congratulatory praises for being such an awesome guardian of Planet Earth, Secretary of State John Kerry rejoicedduring a panel discussion on climate change that a great American industry responsible for supporting hundreds of thousands of blue-collar jobs is “now bankrupt.”
At a screening of Leonardo diCaprio’s new global warming film, “Before the Flood,” Kerry lamented that it took this long for coal companies to go out of business – a fate brought on largely by President Obama’s aggressive environmental regulations – saying that it would have happened earlier if “big coal” hadn’t been so busy buying political support during Kerry’s time in the Senate.
“Big coal – which now, by the way, is bankrupt – spent enormous sums of money against other colleagues, scaring them and making it clear to them that they were going to have a very difficult re-election because of the funding mechanisms we have in America for our elections, and that’s why people backed off. We never got to that critical mass,” Kerry said of his past efforts on climate change.
“We were deprived of the opportunity to ever get a vote because not enough people felt compelled to move by this,” he whined. “They were compelled to move by fear.”…

Obama has misused science in politically charged debates over climate change
‘I think Hillary would worsen that’
David Deming, a geophysicist at the University of Oklahoma in Norman, doesn’t think it matters whether Trump and Clinton have much personal knowledge of science. “Trump said he’d appoint good people and I believe him,” says Deming, who has written newspaper opinion pieces in support of Trump.
Other scientists who plan to vote for the Republican say they have been let down by US President Barack Obama, and think that Clinton — another Democrat — would bring more of the same. To them, Trump represents change. “The current status quo seems like it’s not working for a lot of Americans,” says one Trump-supporting chemist at the University of Pittsburgh in Pennsylvania, who asked for anonymity. “I’m hopeful for a modest improvement, and that’s about as much as I can hope.”
…
William Briggs, a statistician at Cornell University in Ithaca, New York, likes the fact that Trump has not emphasized science. “The federal government has become far too involved in setting the scientific agenda,” says Briggs, who argues that Obama has misused science in politically charged debates over climate change and energy policy. “I think Hillary would worsen that.”…
Solar Warming? President Obama Issues Order To Battle ‘Space Weather’
http://www.mrctv.org/blog/solar-warming-president-obama-issues-order-battle-space-weather
Brittany M. Hughes | 45 minutes ago
As if all the death, doom and destruction headed our way thanks to manmade climate change isn’t enough, President Obama has launched a new effort to control the latest coming apocalypse – space weather.
The issue of deadly “space weather” is so pressing and so perilous to our daily lives, in fact, that it warranted its ownexecutive order straight from the Oval Office. Now, the president who has effectively taken a hatchet to the American energy sector, all but destroyed the fossil fuel industry and spent billions of taxpayer dollars battling “global warming” has decided to try his hand at controlling solar flares.
The order states, in part:
Extreme space weather events — those that could significantly degrade critical infrastructure — could disable large portions of the electrical power grid, resulting in cascading failures that would affect key services such as water supply, healthcare, and transportation.
Space weather has the potential to simultaneously affect and disrupt health and safety across entire continents. Successfully preparing for space weather events is an all-of-nation endeavor that requires partnerships across governments, emergency managers, academia, the media, the insurance industry, non-profits, and the private sector.
The president purports that “executive departments and agencies (agencies) must coordinate their efforts to prepare for the effects of space weather events” to better “prepare for space weather events to minimize the extent of economic loss and human hardship.”…
Podesta Emails: ‘Pope Is the Real Deal’ on Climate
Despite leaked emails showing members of Hillary Clinton’s team expressing contempt for Catholics, Clinton campaign chairman John Podesta is apparently fond of Pope Francis because his “Jesuit friends” think the pope is “the real deal” on climate issues.
In an email exchange released by WikiLeaks, Podesta spoke to New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio after de Blasio’s trip to Rome. Podesta took the opportunity to applaud Pope Francis because Podesta claims “all my Jesuit friends say the Pope is the real deal”:
I’m kind of tight. Could you do 2:00 or 2:30? If not, I’ll get on your calendar for when I get back. John PS Great work on climate. Impressive event. As all my Jesuit friends say the Pope is the real deal. Are you going to go to LA for the US China cities climate meeting in the fall?
While de Blasio was Rome, he participated in a conference, sponsored by the Vatican, on how to fight climate change. Pope Francis has actively spoken out against climate change, even reportedly calling it a “sin.”
Although Podesta expressed he is fond of the pope because of the pope’s actions on climate change, other leaked emails show the Clinton chairman involved in email chains that call Catholicism “backwards” and urge a “Catholic spring” to move the religion away from a “Middle Ages dictatorship.”…
Memo Reveals Steyer’s WH Climate Influence – Proposed ‘extreme weather SWAT team’ to exploit natural disasters
BY:
Within weeks of John Podesta’s appointment as a top White House energy policy adviser, billionaire Democratic donor Tom Steyer, a board member of the think tank Podesta founded, was helping to steer White House climate policy, hacked documents reveal.
Democratic strategist and Steyer lieutenant Chris Lehane emailed Podesta a memo in January 2014 detailing a proposed structure for an overarching Obama administration climate policy plan that, he hoped, would both achieve policy gains and hurt Republicans at the ballot box.
According to Lehane, Steyer himself was also promoting the plan.
“TS may have sent you this doc last night — but believe he may have sent a slightly earlier draft so please use this one,” Lehane wrote to Podesta. “We hope this is helpful and stand ready to support whatever you may need.”
The email was one of thousands released by Wikileaks this week after hackers believed to be acting in concert with the Russian government breached Podesta’s email account, exposing details of the Hillary Clinton campaign chairman’s private conversations.
Lehane’s memo indicates that Podesta had asked for Steyer’s input shortly after he joined the White House as a counselor to the president in charge of energy and climate policy on Jan. 1, 2014.
“Thank you for asking us to share some ideas for a holistic approach to climate,” the memo began. “Per your direction, the goal is to unify policy, politics, and communications to help the Administration best execute an informed plan over a multi-year time period.”
Steyer and Podesta have worked together on climate issues for years. Podesta even recommendedin 2008, that Obama appoint Steyer, a board member of and donor to the Podesta-founded Center for American Progress, as his secretary of energy.
Before joining the White House, Podesta—with input from Lehane and radical environmental activist Bill McKibben—helped craft a political strategy that formed the basis for Steyer’s opposition to the Keystone XL pipeline.
When Podesta solicited his input on administration climate policy in early 2014, Steyer was ramping up a political operation, spearheaded by Super PAC NextGen Climate Action, that would eventually spend more than $77 million backing Democratic Senate and gubernatorial candidates.
Though the strategy in the Steyer-Lehane memo aimed to win policy victories, it was also deeply political and sought to use “wedge” issues to force Republicans into politically difficult positions on climate and energy …
Coal CEO Bob Murray: ‘It’s a tragedy what’s happening in the coal fields…Obama is the greatest destroyer America’s had’
Robert Murray, CEO of Murray Energy.
According to Murray, the Obama administration’s policies are hurting the lowest income families, saying there were about 35,000 jobs lost in the coal industry this year and 60,000 in all.
“It’s a tragedy what’s happening in the coal fields, with the destruction of lives, by Barack Obama, who is the greatest destroyer America’s had. And Mrs. Clinton says ‘I will expand on those policies,’” he said.

Murray, who has been outspoken about Hillary Clinton’s energy policy, also reiterated why her clean energy push is “all about money.”
More From FOXBusiness.com
“She’s getting millions of dollars from the manufacturers of solar panels and windmills…She said these people need this government help. These are the richest billionaires of the country that are kicking in to the Clinton Foundation, to the Clinton campaign, to build windmills and solar panels because it requires a subsidy. Coal stands in the way of that,” he argued.
Obama Admin. Targets Fridges and Hairspray Over Climate Hysteria
By Brittany M. Hughes |
Get ready, guys. President Obama and all his “tree-hugger friends” are coming after your refrigerators and air fresheners for being giant, evil climate destroyers. But while the situation may be dire, if we’re extra-super-careful, they tell us, we could stave off the effects of the Maytag Monster and keep our planet from warming a devastating half a degree over the next 84 years.
I wrote that right. A half a degree over 84 years. Estimated.
The problem allegedly lies in our widespread use of hydroflourocarbons, which are commonly used as a coolant in fridges, air conditioners, fire extinguishers and aerosols. But quite ironically, the use of these dreaded HFCs only became common because they replaced other substances (CFCs) that depleted the ozone layer, which were also restricted.
We just can’t win for trying.
President Obama’s Clean Air Act has pushed for a phase-out out HFCs in recent years, particularly in the public sector. To combat these emissions, the Obama administration back in 2013 instructed federal agencies to purchase non-HFC-emitting devices “whenever feasible.”…
