EPA Warning: Holiday Leftovers Contribute to Climate Change

Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) posted a video on its website to tell Americans that they should think about how much food they waste during the holiday season if they want to help save the planet.

The video is part of the EPA’s “Fight Food Waste” campaign.

In the video posted on YouTube and in the text accompanying it, EPA claims that food waste contributes to climate change.

“Most people don’t realize how much food they throw away every day — from uneaten leftovers to spoiled produce,” the EPA website states. “More than 96% of the food we throw away ends up in landfills.

“Once in landfills, food breaks down to produce methane, a potent greenhouse gas which contributes to climate change,” the text states. “So, this holiday season, take steps to cut down your food waste.”

The video on the EPA website shows a family sitting down for a holiday meal.

“Before sitting down with friends and family this holiday season, consider the impact your meal can have on our planet,” the video, posted on Dec. 16, states.

“A typical American family of four throws out $1,600 of wasted food each year,” it continues.

“It ends up in landfills where it rots and releases methane – a greenhouse gas 20 times more potent than carbon dioxide that contributes to climate change,” the narrator states while an image of a savage storm is shown.

“So this holiday season, buy only what you need,” the video states. “Donate your extra food to food banks and shelters and compost the trimmings.”

Former Advisor to Aussie PM Declares UN climate agenda ‘more about Marxism than science’ – Laments World succumbing to ‘bogus science & catastrophism’

Tony Abbott’s former business advisory council chairman, Maurice Newman, has criticised Malcolm Turnbull and Barack Obama for prioritising “collectivist visions” over “private choice” in relation to climate change.

Newman, who was not reappointed to the council by the Turnbull government, has accused world leaders of acting “like ancient druids pleading with the gods for good seasons” at the recent Paris climate talks.

Newman blasted the final Paris agreement, which aims to hold global temperatures to a maximum rise of 1.5C above pre-industrial levels, saying there was “no empirical scientific evidence” to support the policy.

He lamented that “without a Tony Abbott in Canberra or a Stephen Harper in Ottawa, no world leader utters a peep in protest”.

A noted climate change sceptic, Newman has accused western capitalist societies of giving up on rational thinking.

“They embrace junk science and junk economics and adopt wealth-destroying postmodern pseudo-economics, which teaches that taxpayer subsidies can produce desirable ‘economic transformation’ and faster growth,” Newman wrote in the Australian.

“Pigs may also fly.

“Climate change has cowed once great powers into meekly surrendering sovereignty and independent thought to unelected bureaucrats in Geneva. From the White House to the Lodge, private choice now runs a distant second to collectivist visions.”

“But then climate change is not about credible scientific evidence,” he wrote.

“It has its roots in Marxism, and ultimately the Green Fund is presided over by the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change, run by Costa Rican MarxistChristiana Figueres.”

Newman warned the 1.5C target would be “relentlessly pursued” by the UN with the help of the media.

“The media, in step with the Green Machine, will bombard us with climate alarmism to the applause of the leader of the free world, Barack Obama, who says: ‘My mission is to make the world aware that climate change is a bigger threat than terrorism.’ Really? That’s serious. Clearly authority, not common sense or science, now rules the world.”

Newman also accused the world’s largest emitter, China, of “adroit politics”, using climate change to act on its domestic air quality issues while promoting emissions …

‘Obama refused to drink his own urine’ – Obama Runs Wild With Survivalist to Call for ‘Climate Action’

President Obama guest starred in last night’s episode of Running Wild With Bear Grylls on NBC. Fans of the show know Grylls as a handsome, rugged Brit who’s a former solider and will do just about anything to survive in the wilderness. The episode was filmed back in September when Obama was in Alaska on the last leg of his U.S. climate action tour. The president snapped this awesome selfie with the British adventurer…

Obama is hoping the episode will draw attention to the impacts of climate change. “I’ve two daughters, and I don’t want grandkids too soon, but eventually I hope to have some. And I want to make sure that this is there for them, not just us,” said Obama, as they hiked in the Kenai Mountains.

He said he’s focusing on climate change because “I think it will have a more significant impact on the lives of future generations as just about anything. And we’re still a long way from getting it right but it’s something that, working together, I think we can make a difference on.”

About 50 Secret Service personnel, a food taster, snipers and helicopters were all on hand, but Grylls said Obama wanted it to be as authentic as possible. “He didn’t have any problems. He wanted the physicality … he was up for everything,” Grylls said.

Well, almost everything. While Obama refused to drink his own urine, he did agree to eat a bit of bloody salmon that was “half-eaten” by a bear and drink tea made from catkins and glacier water.…

Gov Jerry Brown on climate policy: ‘You need the coercive power of government to say ‘do this’

Published on Dec 7, 2015

Discussing the need for ‘revolutionary’ change to fight global warming, California Governor Jerry Brown tells billionaire climate activist Tom Steyer, “you need a law, you need a rule, you need the coercive power of government to say ‘do this.'”

GOVERNOR JERRY BROWN: “Tom you used the phrase ‘policy – good policy’, but I want to unpack that term a little bit. Inside the policy, you need a law, you need a rule, you need the coercive power of government to say ‘do this.’ Now you have to be wise and don’t say something stupid or try to order something stupid, but the fact is the regulations supported by the laws drive innovation.”

Two Days After Domestic Attack Obama On TV With Climate Bigger Threat Than Terror

http://lidblog.com/two-days-after-domestic-attack-obama-on-tv-with-climate-bigger-threat-than-terror/

Two days after the attack in San Bernardino, the day after the FBI determined that Syed Rizwan Farook’s had indeed been radicalized, and only an hour or two before the FBI publicly admitted that his wife, Tashfeen Malik, on the day of the attack had sworn her loyalty to ISIS in a Facebook post, our clueless president was on “CBS This Morning” defending his position the world’s greatest threat is not radical Islamic terrorism, but climate change. The interview had taken place the same day as the San Bernardino attack, but we all know that if he wanted, CBS as part of the lame stream media would have allowed him to revise his statements, based on the ongoing situation. According to Obama the oceans rising or major shifts in weather patterns will place people under emotional strain making them more likely to adopt “dangerous” ideologies. We’re going to get ISIL, They will be defeated. There will be ongoing efforts to disrupt the world order from terrorists, from rogue states, from cyber attacks (…)There’s always some bad people out there trying to do bad things and we always have to be vigilant in going after them. (…) What we know is that, as human beings are placed under strain, then bad things happen. If you look at world history, whenever people are desperate — when people start lacking food, when people are not able to make a living or take care of their families — that’s when ideologies rise that are dangerous. What’s a bigger strain is when a country has a president who can’t think beyond his own talking points. Iran has a supreme leader, we have a clueless leader. Firstly temperatures haven’t increased in almost 19 years, polar ice is growing, and this type of terrorism has been around since right after World War I. His statements/lack of backing down in the two days since he made them certainly showed his absence of compassion for the families of the 14 dead and 21 injured from the San Bernardino when one considers that he has terrorism as a political tool for climate change, and specially San Bernardino used for his political gun control fight. Watch the video below and wonder what this supposed leader is smoking. The post Two Days After Domestic Attack Obama On …
