Former Vice President Al Gore is planning to release a sequel to his 2006 film “An Inconvenient Truth.” See: Sundance to Open with Al Gore “An Inconvenient Truth” Sequel. But Gore’s film will be met by a new reality in the U.S. with the election of Donald Trump as President: Climate skeptics will be back in charge and are poised to dismantle the climate agenda that Gore has spent decades promoting.
From Trump’s pledges to pull the U.S. out of the UN Paris climate agreement to his promises to defend the UN climate panel to his EPA pick Oklahoma Attorney General Scott Pruitt who is set to reverse the agencies climate regulations.

It’s a new dawn for climate skepticism, denial and doubt.
And yesterday, at an event at the conservative Heritage Foundation headquarters in Washington, the side of the climate fight that has viewed the last eight years of increasingly aggressive environmental regulations as a setback laid out its plan of attack.
Finally, it said, the time has come to significantly shift climate science away from the place it has held during the Obama years. Speaker after speaker repeated the notion that they would now win over the American public and that a new war had begun against those who have essentially forced them underground and out of favor for almost a decade.
The crowd included advisers to President-elect Donald Trump, conservative pundits and energy industry lobbyists eager to shape the next four to eight years. The time has come, they said, to end the “alarmism” fueling climate research, where the prevailing scientific wisdom holds that human activity is warming the planet and irrevocably altering life on Earth.
Among the ideas raised by speakers: a fight to end “political” science at federal agencies; to go into college campuses with their climate denial research; to produce newspaper-like pamphlets that dispel much of modern climate science; to launch a social media campaign that will separate “truth from bullshit”; and, perhaps most sinister for environmentalists, to use U.S. EPA to generate educational materials for schoolchildren.
Sen. Jim Inhofe (R-Okla.), known for bringing a snowball onto the floor of the Senate as evidence that global warming was a hoax, recounted the time when his granddaughter came home from sixth grade and asked why he didn’t believe in climate change. She had been given materials from EPA at school, he said. Such curriculum will be one of his first targets, he said.
“A lot of you guys that are liberals like the idea of the EPA brainwashing our kids, but I don’t, and so that’s going to be one of my targets to stop that from taking place,” Inhofe told reporters, adding that climate science “is still something that is unsettled and is up …

Media Blasted for ‘Fake News’ on Trump’s Climate Stance
In a piece picked up by the Drudge Report, ClimateDepot.com editor Marc Morano, who produced the documentary Climate Hustle, acknowledged that Trump’s remarks were not as hardcore as his campaign rhetoric. But they hardly justified the media’s bogus claims. “Trump’s claim to have an open mind on U.S. climate policy and his comment that ´I’m going to take a look at´ withdrawing from the UN Paris agreement are more nuanced than his previous blunt statements that the U.S. will cancel the UN agreement,” Morano explained. “But those comments in the context of the interview are hardly a flip-flop or major signal of changing views on the issue.”
Climate Depot also included a number of quotes from leading scientists celebrating Trump’s victory and what it might mean for restoring honesty in science. “Trump’s victory is very promising,” exclaimed Norwegian Astrophysicist Prof. Jan-Erik Solheim from the University of Tromso. “We can get real science back in the field.” Prominent Swedish geologist Dr. Nils Axel Morner of Stockholm University echoed the sentiment: “We have a benefit from Trump’s victory: We scientists may see a liberation from this unscientific closing of journals,” said Morner, perhaps the world’s top expert on sea levels and a former UN Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) expert reviewer. Numerous others agreed.

The chorus of skeptical scientific voices grew louder in 2010 as the Climategate scandal — which involved the upper echelon of UN IPCC scientists — detonated upon on the international climate movement. “I view Climategate as science fraud, pure and simple,” said noted Princeton Physicist Dr. Robert Austin shortly after the scandal broke. Climategate prompted UN IPCC scientists to turn on each other. UN IPCC scientist Eduardo Zorita publicly declared that his Climategate colleagues Michael Mann and Phil Jones “should be barred from the IPCC process…They are not credible anymore.” Zorita also noted how insular the IPCC science had become. “By writing these lines I will just probably achieve that a few of my future studies will, again, not see the light of publication,” Zorita wrote. A UN lead author Richard Tol grew disillusioned with the IPCC and lamented that it had been “captured” and demanded that “the Chair of IPCC and the Chairs of the IPCC Working Groups should be removed.” Tol also publicly called for the “suspension” of IPCC Process in 2010 after being invited by the UN to participate as lead author again in the next IPCC Report. [Note: Zorita and Tol are not included in the count of dissenting scientists in this report.]
Other UN scientists were more blunt. A South African UN scientist declared the UN IPCC a “worthless carcass” and noted IPCC chair Pachauri is in “disgrace”. He also explained that the “fraudulent science continues to be exposed.” Alexander, a former member of the UN Scientific and Technical Committee on Natural Disasters harshly critiqued the UN. “‘I was subjected to vilification tactics at the time. I persisted. Now, at long last, my persistence has been rewarded…There is no believable evidence to support [the IPCC] claims. I rest my case!” See: S.
