Climate Astrology: Are warmists now claiming extreme weather is NOT LINKED to global warming?

NASA scientist and RealClimate.org’s Gavin Schmidt declared in a February 17, 2011 posting: “There is no theory or result that indicates that climate change increases extremes in general.” See: NASA Scientist & RealClimate.org’s Gavin Schmidt: Global Warming Does Not Cause Extreme Weather Events
Schmidt includes all sorts of caveats, including the phrase “in general,” but Schmidt’s declaration may be misread by many as some sort of statement that proponents of man-made global warming do not claim that an increase in many types of extreme storms are “predicted” or “consistent” with their climate model based virtual world. [Note: The latest global warming debacle comes in the form of new studies attempting to link specific rain and flood events to man-made global warming. Physicist Dr. Lubos Motl commented on Schmidt’s new ambiguous extreme weather/AGW claim. “The idea that all extremes are getting stronger – a basic pillar of the climate doomsday beliefs – is actually so silly that even one of the most famous climate cranks, Gavin Schmidt, has been able to figure it out and admit that it’s wrong,” Motl wrote on February 18, 2011.
“The idea that climate extremes are supposed to get larger is one of the most omni-present manifestations of the climate doomsday religion,” Motl wrote. “This thesis contradicts pretty much all empirical data as well as theoretical analyses of the climate.
Motl called the link “complete pseudoscientific nonsense” and added: “There’s been no significant global trend in either of them during the last 100 years or so.”
Climate Depot wants to ensure that Gavin Schmidt’s latest proclamation is not misconstrued by some to believe that global warming activists are not attempting to link extreme storms to man-made global warming.

Internet ‘Creator’ Gore’s website crashed by Drudge — Gore now claims ‘increased heavy snowfalls are completely consistent with… man-made global warming’
Former Vice President Al Gore’s website was crashed by Matt Drudge’s website on Tuesday afternoon. Gore’s site was down from approximately 4:30 PM ET until about 6PM ET.
The DrudgeReport.com linked to Gore’s claim that “heavy snowfalls are completely consistent with what they (scientists) have been predicting as a consequence of man-made global warming” at exactly 4:29pm ET.
Gore’s website crashed almost immediately following Drudge’s link. The irony for Gore is that he has touted his role of “creating the Internet.”
“During my service in the United States Congress, I took the initiative in creating the Internet,” Gore said during a March 9, 1999 CNN interview.
It now appears the creator of the Internet’s website is not able to handle traffic from the DrudgeReport.com. [Note: Drudge has a long history of overwhelming websites with heavy readership traffic. See: Drudge, global warming shut down Senate site – Jan. 23, 2007]
Gore has been joined by many proponents of man-made global warming in now claiming that record cold and snow is either “consistent with” or caused by global warming. The problem for Gore and others who make these claims, is they are on record claiming decreasing snow and cold are caused by global warming.

Even more bad news for Al Gore is the fact that his claim that heavy snows being “completely consistent” with “man-made global warming” is being ridiculed by scientists and the claims are at odds with the UN climate panel that Gore shared a 2007 Nobel Prize with.

Gore’s claim of snow being “consistent” with global warming is also at odds with is Oscar Winning 2006 film “An Inconvenient Truth.” Gore never once warned of record cold and increasing snowfalls as a consequence of man-made global warming in that film.
