UN IPCC’s Pachauri Criminal Charges Total 1,400 pages – ‘Charged with a long list of sex offences’

Today, more than a year after a 29-year-old woman complained to the police about Rajendra Pachauri, formal charges have been laid. Early news reports out of India say the charge sheet runs to 1,400 pages and includes allegations of stalking, criminal intimidation, and sexual harassment.

As his bio over at the New York Academy of Sciences explains:

The name of Dr. Rajendra K. Pachauri…has become synonymous with climate change and the environment.

Pachauri led the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) from 2002 until 2015. In that capacity he frequently lectured the rest of us about the ethics and morality of doing too little to save the planet. For more than three decades, he was also head of The Energy and Research Institute (TERI), the New Delhi-based organization where the complainant worked. She told police that the then 74-year-old persistently groped and forcibly kissed her. Emails and text messages she turned over as corroborating evidence have been formatted into a 24-page PDF available here.…

AP: FORMER UN CLIMATE OFFICIAL PACHAURI CHARGED WITH STALKING, HARASSMENT

NEW DELHI (AP) — The U.N. climate panel’s former chairman, Rajendra Pachauri, was charged Tuesday with stalking and sexually harassing a woman who worked at the New Delhi environmental think tank he’s headed for more than three decades.

Police filed the case in a Delhi court after investigating a complaint by one of Pachauri’s colleagues at The Energy Research Institute, Press Trust of India said.

Pachauri has denied the allegations, but resigned last year from both the U.N.’s Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change and from TERI after the researcher’s allegations were published in Indian newspapers. The allegations caused a public uproar in a country where women face a stigma against discussing issues such as sexual harassment in the workplace.

His appointment last month to another top post at TERI renewed outrage, and a second woman, who had worked there for a year, came forward with additional allegations.…

Climate Eunuch: Report: Former UN IPCC Chief Pachauri warned woman: If you get a boyfriend, ‘I will castrate him’

http://indiatoday.intoday.in/story/if-you-get-a-boyfriend-i-will-castrate-him-pachauri-told-complainant/1/599256.html

RK Pachauri’s troubles don’t seem to be anywhere close to going away anytime soon. The former director general of The Energy and Resources Institute (TERI) is already facing charges of sexual harassment.

One of the two complainants has revealed that he threatened her after seeing her interacting with a male colleague at a climate change summit in March 2014. Pachauri, she said, told her that “if you were ever to get a boyfriend, I will castrate him”. He told this to her while they were boarding a flight at Los Cabos in Mexico, an Economic Times report said.

Last week, amid strong opposition from women groups and students against his appointment as executive vice-chairman of TERI, Pachauri was sent on indefinite leave……

Team of Scientists Declare: ‘The Profiteers of Doom Were Wrong About Climate’

More than a century from now, on current trends, today’s concentration of CO2 in the air will have doubled. How much warming will that cause? The official prediction, 1.5-4.5 Celsius degrees per CO2 doubling, is proving a substantial exaggeration.

Professor William Happer of Princeton, one of the world’s foremost physicists, says computer models of climate rely on the assumption of the CO2’s direct warming effect that is about a factor two higher, owing to incorrect representation of the microphysical interactions of CO2 molecules with other infrared photons.

As if that were not bad enough, the official story is that feedbacks triggered by direct warming roughly triple it, causing not 1 but 3 degrees’ warming per CO2 doubling. Here, too, the official story is a significant exaggeration, as Professor Richard Lindzen of MIT, the world’s most knowledgeable climatologist, has demonstrated.

The wild exaggerations of both the direct CO2 warming and the supposedly more serious knock-on warming are rooted in an untruth: the falsehood that scientists know enough about how clouds form, how thunderstorms work, how air and ocean currents flow, how ice sheets behave, how soot in the air behaves.

In truth, we do not understand climate enough to make even an uneducated guess about how much global warming our adding CO2 to the air will cause. Other things being equal, we will cause some warming, but – on measurements to date – not much.

The national science academies and the UN’s climate panel have profitably contrived what the late Stephen Schneider called “scary scenarios” on the basis of inadequate knowledge.Etatiste politicians and bureaucrats have gone along with them.…

Smoking gun graph reveals NASA’s Hansen’s research showed Medieval Warm Period warmer than today – 1990 UN IPCC report used Hansen’s 1981 study

Via: http://realclimatescience.com/2016/01/hansen-confirmed-the-mwp-in-1981/

“Climate fraudsters frequently claim that the 1990 IPCC temperature graph below showing the Medieval Warm Period (MWP) was only a representation of Central England Temperatures (CET) and was not global.”

2016-01-14-10-57-47

This is nonsense. The graph was derived from James Hansen’s 1981 study, which was taken from temperatures in England, California and Greenland.

(b) is based on temperatures in central England, the tree limit in the White Mountains of California, and oxygen isotope  measurements in the Greenland ice (W. Dansgaard of the Geophysical Isotope Laboratory, University of Copenhagen, pers. comm.), with the  temperature scale set by the variations in the last 100 years

The overlay below shows that the 1990 IPCC graph is essentially the same graph as Hansen 1981.

UN IPCC Lead Author Dr. Richard Tol bolts warmist narrative: Calls Gore’s claims ‘complete madness’

Via: http://cliscep.com/2016/01/06/interviews-with-richard-tol/

There’s an interesting blog based in Belgium called Trust, yet verify. If you’re not familiar with it, do take a look, there are plenty of good posts there. The blogger, Michel, describes in a series of posts starting here how he started out as a devout believer in what we were being told about the climate crisis, then started to look into it in more detail, asked questions, was not satisfied by the answers and the tone in which they were delivered, and gradually became more sceptical – a very familiar story.

Tol is one of the most highly cited researchers in the field and an IPCC author, writing for WG2 about economic impacts.

The world is in uproar about the climate, but you claim that climate change is not a problem?

Tol: “There is no reason to believe that climate change is so terrible at the moment. Unless you raise funds for Greenpeace or are a politician who presents themself as the savior of mankind: then you gain by exaggerating things. The reality is that the climate hardly affects our wellbeing and our prosperity. There are happy and rich people living in boiling hot Singapore, but also in freezing cold Canada. There are unhappy and poor people in boiling hot Kenya but also stone cold Mongolia. Climate change is not the main environmental problem. Dirty air causes currently roughly four million deaths each year.”

Are you concerned that the future of your children is at risk due to climate change?

Tol: “Not for a moment. It disturbs me hearing people like Al Gore say that he is worried about the future of his grandchildren. Complete madness. The best estimate is that sea level will rise half a meter this century. That is from the ground to our knees. The Netherlands has the money and the knowledge to do something about it. It is the poorest who are affected by climate change. It is the grandchildren of the people in a country like Bangladesh who are at risk from rising sea levels. But why are we suddenly concerned about the grandchildren of people that we care little about? Poverty is a bigger problem than climate change. Do you help the poor by reducing greenhouse gas emissions or by fighting poverty? An important question for which no one has a clear answer yet.”

Fmr. Bush EPA Administrator brags Prez helped lay groundwork for UN Paris Agreement – UN Sec.-Gen. also ‘very much grateful’ to Bush

http://www.star-telegram.com/opinion/opn-columns-blogs/richard-greene/article52565230.html

I’m going to raise a couple of questions that might label me as a global warming skeptic.

Not so much about the science, but more about what was actually accomplished with the much-heralded outcome of the United Nations’ Paris agreement that is supposed to mark the beginning of the end to global warming.

Before I do, however, a reminder of my participation in the first-ever initiatives to deal with greenhouse gas emissions — the stuff that, if there is too much of it, traps heat on the earth’s surface and threatens the survival of the planet.

At least that’s the opinion of the majority of the world’s climate scientists and the stated public policy position of the Obama administration that has led to the most comprehensive regulatory initiatives anywhere on earth.

I’m a pragmatist supporting the “art of the possible,” where progress is achieved through the process of balancing improvement of the air we breathe, the water we need and the land we live upon with economic opportunity for all.
