The Denver protest, the biggest one planned for the state, includes staging a so-called “die in,” according to event planners. “We will be doing an Aerial Image,” event planners wrote on the protest website. “A section of that will include a ‘die in’, where people wearing black will lay on the ground as if they are dead. We expect the visual effect to be stunning. If you’re comfortable participating, please wear all black to the event.”

Cheers! On eve of climate march, EPA removes climate change page from website

BY DEVIN HENRY – 04/28/17 07:45 PM EDT

The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) removed several pages – including those related to climate change – from its website on Friday as part of an update to “reflect the agency’s new direction under President Donald Trump and Administrator Scott Pruitt.”

EPA officials removed the page relating to the Obama administration’s main emissions regulation for power plants, which now directs to an article about an executive order Trump signed in March undoing Obama’s climate agenda.

The agency’s pages relating to climate change, climate science, the impacts of climate change and what readers can do about climate change are all gone from the live site, each replaced with a banner headline saying “this page is being updated.”

The EPA’s website on climate information for children remains live.

A snapshot of the agency’s website during the Obama administration is still available online, and the EPA said pages like those relating to climate change are still “under review.”

“As EPA renews its commitment to human health and clean air, land and water, our website needs to reflect the views of the leadership of the agency,” said J.P. Freire, the agency’s associate administrator for public affairs, in a statement.

“We want to eliminate confusion by removing outdated language first and making room to discuss how we’re protecting the environment and human health by partnering with states and working within the law.”

The White House made headlines by removing the climate change page from its official website in the moments after Trump was inaugurated in January, but that was part of a broader overhaul of the site.…

Up to 2 Foot Snow Blast Putting ‘Global Warming’ Protests On Ice In Colorado

BY STAFF APRIL 28, 2017 – Western Wire

The threat of a major snowstorm is already putting Denver-area climate marches on ice. With the Washington Post reporting on how the “sweltering heat” in our nation’s capital is providing a relevant backdrop for the “People’s Climate March” tomorrow, the foot of snow expected in Colorado tomorrow has already postponed one of the several planned protests in the state.

Organized by groups seeking to ban the production of oil, natural gas, and coal, including 350.org, Sierra Club, and NextGen Climate, the “People’s Climate March” is occurring tomorrow in Washington, D.C., and cities across the country to protest the Trump administration’s environmental policies.

With the Washington protest reportedly expected to draw tens of thousands of attendees, hundreds of “sister marches” are planned for cities across the country. But one out of the twelve protests in Colorado has already been postponed due to an impending snowstorm. The National Weather Service’s winter storm warning projects six to 12 inches of snow, but there is potential for up to two feet in the Denver Metro Area.…

Gore, DiCaprio to descend on DC to protest Trump on ‘global warming’

Climate march to spoil Trump’s big day

It seems the Earth has a sense of irony. “Record-breaking heat” is possible at the People’s Climate March in DC on Saturday, where thousands of people are planning to protest against the president’s climate change policies on his 100th day in office. Trump’s initiatives include, but are not limited to, a 31% cut in the Environmental Protection Agency and potentially leaving the Paris climate agreement.

Among those suffering in the heat will be former vice-president Al Gore and, apparently, Leonardo DiCaprio. It is likely to take a titanic effort to change the other Wolf of Wall Street’s mind, however, as Trump has repeatedly said that the inception of climate change had nothing to do with mankind. Only 1,361 more days of this to go!

A group of senators, including Resistance regular Bernie Sanders, this week unveiled legislation that aims to transition to 100% clean and renewable energy by 2050.

The resistance’s next target: big banks

Hundreds of thousands of immigrants and their allies will be striking and marching around the country on 1 May. The May Day protests are traditionally led by unions and labor groups, but this year – galvanized by the Trump administration – immigration, racial justice, gender equality and LGBT groups will be playing a big part.

Demonstrations will take place in a number of states. Activist groups are launching a “Corporate Backers of Hate Campaign” on the same day, which will see demonstrations at the offices of companies seen to be supporting or benefiting from the Trump presidency. Targets include JP Morgan Chase, Wells Fargo and Goldman Sachs.

Luke Skywalker v Trump

Trump will be met by thousands of Luke Skywalkers, Hans Solos, and, depending on individuals’ tastes, Jar Jar Binkses when he returns to New York City next week.…

People’s Climate March on Saturday — through Snow!? Spring snowstorm may hit sister marches in West

April 28th, 2017 by Roy W. Spencer, Ph. D.

You would think that since it’s almost May that one could plan a march against global warming without having to worry about getting snowed on.

Well, weather rules — not climate.

While the People’s Climate March in Washington DC Saturday (April 29) will enjoy unseasonably warm weather, some of the Sister Marches out West won’t be so lucky. There are winter storm warnings, watches, and winter weather advisories in effect for portions of nine Rocky Mountain and High Plains states.

I’m sure the warmth in DC will be pointed to as evidence of global warming during the march. But check out this forecast of the regions of above and below normal for midday Saturday (graphic courtesy of Weatherbell.com):

Temperatures will range from 40 deg. F below normal to 27 deg. F above normal. This is what’s called “weather”. Depending on where you are marching, you will either be bundled up against the cold and wind-driven snow, or in shorts and sweating.

At the same latitude, at the same time.

Trump Hints White House Might Stay In UN Paris Climate Deal If Renegotiated

President Donald Trump indicated Thursday that he would be willing to stay in the Paris climate agreement if the deal is renegotiated to include more favorable terms for the U.S.

Trump promised to tear up the deal during the presidential campaign, along with several other Obama-era environmental regulations. He is now switching his tune somewhat, telling reporters that he objects to the deal’s unfairness.

“It’s not a fair situation because they are paying virtually nothing and we are paying massive amounts of money,” he said, referring to criticisms that China, India and Russia were not ponying up enough money to help poorer countries battle climate change under the deal.…

Mark Levin: Here’s Proof Obama Administration LIED To Us About Climate Change ‘To Advance An Ideology’

On his radio program Thursday, constitutional lawyer and bestselling author Mark Levin slammed the Obama administration for manipulating data about climate change and “lying” to the American in order to advance its socialist ideology.

Levin was responding to a report by The Daily Caller‘s Chris White, who highlighted an admission by a former Obama Energy Department official earlier in the week that the administration deliberately presented “misleading” and “sometimes just wrong” climate data. Here’s an excerpt from the report (second hyperlink added):

Former Energy Department Undersecretary Steven Koonin told The Wall Street Journal Monday that bureaucrats within former President Barack Obama’s administration spun scientific data to manipulate public opinion.

“What you saw coming out of the press releases about climate data, climate analysis, was, I’d say, misleading, sometimes just wrong,” Koonin said, referring to elements within the Obama administration he said were responsible for manipulating climate data.

He pointed to a National Climate Assessment in 2014 showing hurricane activity has increased from 1980 as an illustration of how federal agencies fudged climate data. Koonin said the NCA’s assessment was technically incorrect.

“What they forgot to tell you, and you don’t know until you read all the way into the fine print is that it actually decreased in the decades before that,” he said.

Levin pointed to Koonin’s statement as yet more evidence that the Obama administration had let ideology trump the truth and outright “lied” to the American people.

“We were lied to. We were lied to in order to advance an ideology,” said the radio host.…

People’s Climate March: ‘A Demonstration Of First World Madness’

Organizers are expecting 100,000 to turn out Saturday for the Peoples Climate March in Washington. A better name for it, though, would be the Mass Virtue-Signaling Exhibition. Or how about the Grown Children Acting Up for Attention Demonstration?

Has there ever been another event in which so many were so desperate to demonstrate their moral superiority? To show that they care? To commit a futile and stupid gesture that’s meaningful only in their minds?

Of course every one of the marchers will arrive at their destination via some form of non-carbon spewing transportation, right? They’ll all ride bikes, walk, drive rubber-band powered cars, and run like Forrest Gump, won’t they?

Or maybe not. One report says “300 buses are already booked, coming from across the country” to Washington. And if Al Gore appears, it’s a better-than-even bet that he’ll fly in on a private jet, spewing carbon dioxide all the way there and back. Just as the Union of Concerned Scientists says, “Together, we can tackle global warming.”

But the climate march is about more than climate. It’s a means to call for line items of the usual left-wing wish list, including “good paying jobs that provide a family-sustaining wage and benefits and preserve workers’ rights, including the right to unionize.” Marchers will apparently also demand the funding of “investments in our communities, people, and environment to transition to a new clean and renewable energy economy that works for all, not an economy that feeds the machinery of war.”

And maybe a portrait of Lenin in every home, too.

The lineup of this grand rally begins with the Protectors of Justice, which will include, according to peoplesclimate.org, “indigenous, frontline environmental and climate justice communities.” Just behind that group are the Creators of Sanctuary. They are “immigrants, LGBTQI, women, Latinos, waterkeepers, food sovereignty and land rights” activists. Only at the end do we find the “environmentalists” and “climate activists.”

Yeah, this is all about saving the planet.

The Heritage Foundation reports that “the same agitators behind the riots on the day of President Trump’s inauguration are helping to organize the upcoming People’s Climate March,” which is no surprise.…

Danish Meteorological Institute Moves To Obscure Recent Record Greenland Ice Growth

German meteorological and climate site Schneefan (snow fan) here writes on the recent changes by the DMI on its Greenland ice mass chart. Personally I wouldn’t be surprised if this were in part due to climate data embarrassment.

Schneefan writes that the Danish Meteorological Institute (DMI) recently changed the reference period for showing the Greenland ice mass: from the warmer 1990-2013 to the internationally usual but colder WMO climate period of 1981-2010.

The change over to the WMO-recommended older and colder reference period has the effect of making the massive ice growth of the past two years with respect to the new mean look smaller, as the current comparison shows (lower chart).

Top: The total daily contribution to the surface mass balance from the entire ice sheet (blue line, Gt/day). Bottom: The accumulated surface mass balance from September 1st to now (blue line, Gt) and the season 2011-12 (red) which had very high summer melt in Greenland. For comparison, the mean curve from the period 1981-2010 is shown (dark grey). The same calendar day in each of the 30 years (in the period 1981-2010) will have its own value. These differences from year to year are illustrated by the light grey band. For each calendar day, however, the lowest and highest values of the 30 years have been left out.Source: http://www.dmi.dk/surface-mass-budget/.

By changing the comparison period in April 2017 from 1990-2013 to the older and colder WMO 1981-2010 climate period, the mean shown by the gray line and shaded area is raised. This is illustrated by the thin black lines I’ve added to the two lower charts showing the old mean peak value.  Using the 1990-2013 period, the mean peak value was about 550 gigatonnes.

Today using the older and colder WMO 1981-2010 the mean yearly peak rises to about 600 gigatonnes. As a result the current curve shown in blue the strong ice growth during September 2016 becomes less apparent. Moreover, the strong 2015/16 ice year year has been left out (brown curve in the old chart, left).

Foremost by leaving out the strong 2012 melt year (red curve in lower chart), which acted to significantly pull down the 1990-2013 ice mass, and by extending the chart out nine years into the colder past (from 1990 to 1981) the new 1981-1990 mean is considerably higher than the old

Warmist Revolt! Bill Nye has become ‘cringeworthy’ – ‘He Is Not the Right Guy to Lead the Climate Fight’

BY EMILY ATKIN
April 27, 2017
Tens of thousands of people around the world rallied for rational thought on Saturday, and those who attended the main March for Science, in Washington, D.C., were treated to a lengthy program of distinguished speakers: astronauts, astronomers, neuroscientists, biologists, chemists, and other Americans who—in a truly rational society—would be famous. But only one of them was legitimately famous.

“Our numbers here today show the world that science is for all,” Bill Nye the Science Guy belted to the crowd on the National Mall. “Our lawmakers must know that science serves every one of us. Every citizen of every nation in society. Science must shape policy. Science is universal. Science brings out the best in us. With an informed, optimistic view of the future, together we can—dare I say it—save the world!”

This speech, the Washington Post declared, “was a significant moment—for science, for William Sanford Nye and for the masses who have followed him for decades, from fuzzy TV screens in their middle school classrooms to the grounds of the Washington Monument at Saturday’s March for Science.” But Nye’s inspiring words were also, perhaps, a plug for his new Netflix show: Bill Nye Saves the World.

It seems that years of political debate have made him too jaded, exasperated, strident, and partisan to be the face of the climate change fight. Worse, he’s unwittingly feeding the conservative narrative that the left’s reverence for science is all just a political performance.

A few weeks earlier, Nye was a guest on Tucker Carlson’s evening show on Fox News. It was a cringeworthy nine minutes of television.

“To what degree is climate change is caused by human activity?” Carlson asked.

A simple question, but one that gave Nye pause. “To a degree that it’s … that it’s a very serious problem in the next few decades,” he said.

“But to what degree? Is it 100 percent? Is it 73.4 percent?”

“The word degree is a word that you chose, but the speed to which climate change is happening is caused by humans.”

“But to what extent is human activity is responsible for speeding that up? Please be more precise.”

Carlson said Nye looked annoyed—and he was right. Nye then tried to change the subject, asking Carlson why he doesn’t consider climate change a problem.

Right-wing media has had a field day with Nye lately. …
