Leonardo DiCaprio’s charity has been urged to repay donations linked to a Malaysian fund that backed his film The Wolf of Wall Street. The foundation is being investigated by the US department of justice over alleged ties to a $3.5 billion embezzlement scandal whose “misappropriated” funds were used to bankroll the 2013 film, according to reports.

The actor is now facing calls to “give the dirty money back”. According to the US department of justice, certain donations to the Oscar-winner’s environmental charity, the Leonardo DiCaprio Foundation, (the LDF), came directly from billions of dollars siphoned from the Malaysian sovereign wealth fund 1MDB.

The department filed a complaint in Los Angeles last month in what has been called the world’s largest embezzlement case, saying that at least $1 billion (£0.76 billion) traceable to the conspiracy was laundered through the US and used to purchase “assets” there.

Hillary crunches on concealed cough drop 20 min. into speech

Lozenged: Hillary crunches on cough drop 20 minutes into speech
“In an effort to advert coughing, Hillary Clinton is apparently now giving speeches with a cough drop tucked between cheek and gum. Twenty minutes into her speech to the American Legion, a cough drop like crunch can be heard as Hillary speaks of “the sequester”. The crunch was picked up by both the C-SPAN and PBS News Hour video feeds.”

Feds Ask: Will Global Warming Cause More Deadly Car Crashes?

http://dailycaller.com/2016/08/30/feds-ask-will-global-warming-cause-more-deadly-car-crashes/

The U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) wants to know if global warming will increase the risk of fatal car crashes.

“To be precise, 7.2% more people died in traffic-related accidents in 2015 than in 2014,” reads a DOT blog post calling for independent analyses of traffic accident data. “This unfortunate data point breaks a recent historical trend of fewer deaths occurring per year.”

The blog post, written by DJ Patil of the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy Mark Rosekind of the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, then asks a series of “key questions” on the future of car crashes they want answered by groups taking up their call to analyze 2015 data.

Patil and Rosekind also ask: “How might climate change increase the risk of fatal crashes in a community?”

Earth Is GAINING Land Despite Global Warming

http://dailycaller.com/2016/08/30/earth-is-gaining-land-despite-warming-fueled-sea-level-rise-study-finds/

Coastal areas around the world are expanding in the face of projections that global warming-induced sea level rise will wipe out coastal cities.

But a recent study by the Dutch Deltares Research Institute found coastal areas had grown, on net, 13,000 square miles over the last 30 years. In total, the study found 67,000 square miles of water was converted into land, and 44,000 square miles of land was covered by water.

“We expected that the coast would start to retreat due to sea level rise, but the most surprising thing is that the coasts are growing all over the world,” Fedor Baart, the study’s lead author, told BBC News. “We’re were able to create more land than sea level rise was taking.”

Baart noted the expansion of coastlines around the world has thwarted sea level rise that scientists predict will get worse due to man-made global warming. The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change predicts sea levels could rise as high as 16 millimeters a year by 2100.
