Global Warming Skeptic Responds To Massachusetts AG’s Subpoena: ‘F**k Off, Fascist’

Alex Epstein had a terse response to a subpoena sent by Massachusetts Attorney General Maura Healey Wednesday.

Healey demanded the oil giant ExxonMobil hand over 40 years of documents, including information pertaining to the company’s dealings with about a dozen think tanks and trade associations, which have been targeted by environmental groups for opposing left-wing global warming policies.

Healey’s subpoena targeted the Center for Industrial Progress (CIP), a for-profit think tank founded by Epstein. Epstein wasn’t exactly happy about being targeted for disagreeing with Healey on global warming, so he sent the AG’s office the following response:

Earth rapidly cooling off thanks to now-dead El Nino – ‘Both satellite & NASA datasets show rapid cooling is underway’

With El Niño officially over, new data shared yesterday by NASA’s GISS shows the average surface temperature was 0.93 degrees Celsius (1.57°F) above average for May 2016, the first time in eight months that it was under one degree Celsius. Even the satellite temperature record released this month shows the global average temperature for May 2016 is 0.55 degrees Celsius (0.99°F) above the thirty-year average for that month, down 0.16 degrees Celsius (0.29°F) from last month. The satellite’s average global temperature is for the lower troposphere, which is the air from the ground to about four miles up (see slideshow).

In either case, both satellite and NASA datasets show that rapid cooling is underway now that the 2015-2016 El Niño episode is officially over. Experts now believe we are headed into a La Niña event based on historical precedents. With a La Niña comes cooler temperatures and less precipitation in many areas. NOAA is forecasting a 75 percent chance one will form by September.

Dr. John Christy, who maintains and produces the satellite reports, shows the May anomaly map where much of the Earth is currently cooling off, even as we head into summer (see slideshow). Because of the strong, naturally occurring El Niño that spiked temperatures for the past eight months, the Northern Hemisphere experienced a much warmer winter while South America was inundated with rainfall.…

Fearing Trump, greens run to Clinton

Hillary Clinton is racking up endorsements from major environmental groups, solidifying support from the green movement for her presidential run.

The NRDC Action Fund, the Sierra Club and the billionaire green donor Tom Steyer have all endorsed Clinton for president in the last two weeks, joining the League of Conservation Voters, which backed her in November.

The presumptive Democratic nominee has now gotten support from nearly all of the major national environmental groups, save for Friends of the Earth Action, which endorsed Sen. Bernie Sanders in August.

To the groups backing Clinton, the choice in the 2016 election is clear: someone who would continue and expand President Obama’s aggressive environmental agenda, or RepublicanDonald Trump, who says he would undo every piece of it that he could, including the Clean Power Plan and the Paris climate agreement.

“Secretary Clinton has a long record on the environment and is the leader we need to build on this progress made by President Obama and the climate movement,” Sierra Club Executive Director Michael Brune said Thursday in announcing the group’s endorsement of Clinton.

“She has listened to the grassroots and crafted detailed plans to safeguard our climate, air, water, and public lands, to protect the most vulnerable from environmental injustice, and to continue the rapid expansion of our clean energy economy.

“Contrasted with that, we have a reckless and misinformed candidate in Donald Trump, who has called climate change a ‘hoax,’ a ‘con job,’ and a ‘concept created by the Chinese.’ ”

Tom Steyer, who heads NextGen Climate and has donated tens of millions of dollars to Democrats who want to fight climate change, had a similar take.

“Now is the time to come together to defeat Donald Trump, who is utterly unfit to be our next president,” Steyer said. “Trump’s racist rhetoric is directly offensive to our American values and his dangerous actions would threaten our children’s future in every way.”

Adam Rome, a professor of environmental history at the University of Delaware, said greens are mobilizing like never before because they see such high stakes in this election.

“I think Trump really scares environmentalists. I can see that environmentalists would want to do everything possible to ensure that he’s not president,” Rome said.

The key concern for greens, Rome said, is preserving Obama initiatives like the Clean Power Plan that were achieved through executive authority and can largely be undone …

Massachusetts AG Demands Docs From More Conservative Skeptic Groups

Massachusetts Attorney General Maura Healey is now the latest state prosecutor to start investigating conservative groups with supposed ties to ExxonMobil, after she issued a subpoena for 40 years of internal company documents and communications with a handful of think tanks.

Healey’s office subpoenaed Exxon as part of a multi-state effort among liberal attorneys general to investigate Exxon for allegedly trying to cover up global warming science. Healey charges that the oil giant lied to shareholders and consumers about the risks of global warming in its communications and shareholder filings, according to a copy of the subpoena obtained by The Daily Caller News Foundation.

Healey demands decades worth or records from prominent conservative think tanks, including the Heritage Foundation and activist group Americans for Prosperity, and also from smaller, lesser known state-based right-leaning groups, such as Boston’s Beacon Hill Institute and the Acton Institute.…

Only one mammal on tiny island supposedly wiped out by climate that has always changed

In a nutshell — this poor little rat lived on a outcrop in the ocean near Papua New Guinea that was 300m long. It’s now gone, and some people blame “climate change”. A thousand tide gauges show the oceans are rising at 1mm a year. We also know the world was much hotter 7,000 years ago, and sea levels rose 125m in the 7,000 years before that. Somehow the rat survived that massive natural shift. Now though, its precarious existence was destroyed by your air conditioners, cars and because you ate too much meat. Modern witchcraft.…

Muslim Cleric: Climate Change Caused by Women’s Immodest Dress

Seyyed Youssef Tabatabi-nejad, a senior Islamic cleric in Isfahan, Iran, said during his weekly sermon last Friday that women dressing inappropriately is causing climate change.

In his sermon, Tabatabi-nejad announced that his “office had received photos of women next to the dry Zayandeh-run River (a major river that runs through Isfahan), [dressed] as if they were in Europe. It is these sorts of acts that cause the river to dry up.”

This is sadly not the first time someone’s taken this position. Back in 2010, Hajjat ol-eslam Kazem Sediqi, the acting Fridayprayer leader in Tehran at the time, claimed that adultery was the cause of an earthquake that was supposed to hit Tehran that year and level the city. The earthquake never did get there.

The National Council of Resistance of Iran, an Iranian parliament-in-exile dedicated to bringing about the separation of theological and political law in Iran, has condemned Tabatabi-nejad’s statement as a “reflection of the typical mindset of the theocratic regime ruling Iran which is no different than the Culture of Isis.”

Seyyed Youssef Tabatabi-nejad, a senior Islamic cleric in Isfahan, Iran, said during his weekly sermon last Friday that women dressing inappropriately is causing climate change.

In his sermonTabatabi-nejad urged Iran’s “moral police” to crack down on “improper veiling” and to do everything they can to keep Iran’s population as moral as possible. (Yes, Iran has an undercover police force that is purely dedicated to making sure that people act and dress according to their faith.)

But Tabatabi-nejad is not concerned with long-term issues such as the souls of the women who are not wearing their scarves in the car and taking long romantic walks with their boyfriends in public; he has more immediate concerns.

In his sermon, Tabatabi-nejad announced that his “office had received photos of women next to the dry Zayandeh-run River (a major river that runs through Isfahan), [dressed] as if they were in Europe. It is these sorts of acts that cause the river to dry up.”…
