From the “say your prayers, we’re gonna roast” department. On January 25th, 2006, while at the Sundance film festival, screening “An Inconvenient Truth”, Al Gore said this as chronicled in an article by CBS News: The former vice president came to town for the premiere of “An Inconvenient Truth,” a documentary chronicling what has become […]

New Paper By Renowned Sea Level Expert Nils-Axel Mörner, Calls AGW A “New Religion” Built On “False Premises.”

http://notrickszone.com/2016/01/03/new-paper-by-renowned-sea-level-expert-nils-axel-morner-calls-agw-a-new-religion-built-on-false-premises/

Renowned sea level expert and geoscience professor Nils-Axel Mörner recently published a paper in the Journal of Religious Studies, Buddhism and Living titled: “The New Religion of Global Warming and its Misconception in Science“. Obviously the retired professor from Sweden believes that today’s climate science is best discussed in a forum reserved for faith a religion. Exaggerated by a factor of three As the pictured cover abstract above shows, Mörner concludes that AGW is a “new religion” built on “false premises” and that it violates physical laws. He adds that “the calculated temperature changes from 102 climate models lie above measured values by a factor of three“. Few scientists have published as much on the subjects of sea level rise, paleo-geophysics and geodynamics as Nils-Axel Mörner has. He is also a co-founder of the Prague-based Independent Committee on Geoethics. AGW “an illusion” In a recent article Mörner also called CO2-driven global warming “an illusion” and that scientists “who insist that present climate changes are the function of CO2-driven global warming” place themselves in the “shameful box of anti-science“. NOAA scientists admit in private that they can’t name any place affected by ocean acidification

NOAA scientists admit in private that they can’t name any place affected by ocean acidification

http://joannenova.com.au/2016/01/noaa-scientists-admit-in-private-that-they-cant-name-any-place-affected-by-ocean-acidification/

There’s the truth, then there’s the whole truth. From a climate expert at NOAA, the study of ocean acidification is so young “they don’t have any data sets that show a direct effect of OA on population health” and they can’t name any place in the world that is definitely affected by it. Steve Milloy at Junkscience.com FOI’d emails among NOAA scientists discussing a NY times op-ed draft. The editor was serving up an apocalyse: …and he wanted all the dirt: Can the authors give us more specific, descriptive images about how acidification has already affected the oceans? Tony Thomas writes that Dr Shallin Busch, who works for NOAA’s Ocean Acidification Program discussed the draft of the article with fellow scientist Ms Applebaum. She warns that they can’t say that OA (Ocean Acidification) was definitely a problem anywhere at the moment: Unfortunately, I can’t provide this information to you because it doesn’t exist. As I said in my last email, currently there are NO areas of the world that are severely degraded because of OA or even areas that we know are definitely affected by OA right now. If you want to use […]Rating: 0.0/10 (0 votes cast)

Paris Agreement: Recycled “Process” Socialism

Paris Agreement: Recycled “Process” Socialism

http://feedproxy.google.com/~r/globalwarmingorg/~3/zHj0umOVoFk/

At the Paris climate conference, President Obama got exactly what he wanted: the framework for a multi-decade, global campaign of political pressure directed chiefly against Republicans and their fossil-fuel industry allies. The Paris Agreement does not directly impose “legally binding” emission-reduction and “climate finance” commitments on the United States. But both conservative gloating and green grousing about the treaty being “toothless” overlook what matters most in climate policy: politics. Obama will use the Agreement to claim that EPA’s Clean Power Plan and other elements of his climate agenda are promises America has made to the world. The Agreement, moreover, will establish the institutional framework for a global coalition of 190+ foreign leaders, legions of UN bureaucrats, scores of green pressure groups, and hundreds of corporate rent-seekers. The coalition will demand that future Congresses and the next president enact and adopt whatever additional laws and regulations are needed to meet Obama’s emission-reduction pledge — known in bureaucratic parlance as the U.S. “Nationally Determined Contribution” (NDC). The Agreement contemplates that Parties will submit ever-more “ambitious” NDCs every five years. So the global coalition will be poised to demand that future U.S. NDCs also be turned into laws and regulations. No chains are as binding as those we forge for ourselves! The Paris pressure cooker is recycled process socialism. There’s an old joke that socialism (spending other people’s money) would be fun if it weren’t for all the committee meetings. Actually, socialist leaders got their jollies at such meetings, which employed a confessional exercise called criticism and self-criticism to cure “false consciousness,” inculcate doctrinal conformity, and enhance understanding of and allegiance to “the plan.” The parallel to the Paris regime is striking. The Agreement and accompanying “Decision of the Parties” envision endless rounds of meetings and reports. The incessant bureaucratic activity will facilitate the naming and shaming of Parties who doubt the so-called consensus of scientists, deviate from their five-year plans, or fail to demonstrate the desired climate “ambition.” Inside the Pressure Box Penn State law prof. Jean Galbraith offers a useful taxonomy for understanding how Paris is supposed to work. She distinguishes between non-binding “substance-based commitments” and binding “process-based commitments.” The most important substance-based commitments are the emission-reduction targets and policies set forth in industrial countries’ NDCs, and the expectation that industrial countries will contribute at least $100 billion annually to subsidize developing countries’ expenditures for …

Drought buster? Up to 10 feet of snow this week for California’s Sierra Nevada

http://wattsupwiththat.com/2016/01/04/drought-buster-up-to-10-feet-of-snow-this-week-for-californias-sierra-nevada

Here is some good news for drought-stricken California; the latest forecast model output from WeatherBell suggests that the Sierra Nevada snow-pack will get a fresh dump of up to 10 feet of snow. The Sierra snow-pack has already been reported as above normal (at 136 percent of normal) in the most recent snow survey conducted by the California […]
