Watch: Catholic TV Host Stands Up to Warmist Petition for Trying to ‘stifle’ Debate: ‘For a mob by petition to attempt to stifle debate…is a type of bullying that will never be tolerated’

EWTN Host Raymond Arroyo of ‘World Over’ – Watch: Begins at 10 min.

Arroyo: “This week a political group has started a petition to try to silence this show by daring to feature what it calls ‘a notorious climate change denial activist’. Now, for anyone who cares to watch, we hosted a fair debate, boys and girls. We invited a climate change activist and a skeptic to make their respective cases. Which they did. And we trusted the audience would come to their own conclusions.

Is this online pressure group and its supporters really saying that the science of climate change, the record, is somehow above debate? And that even to discuss these matters should be verboten? Sorry but that doesn’t wash here. Part of my job here as a journalist is to ask questions. I question government officials, church officials, anyone in the public arena. That’s our obligation. Free speech and open discussion are the very hallmarks of a democratic society. For a mob by petition or otherwise to attempt to stifle debate or forbid certain topics from conversation is a type of bullying that will never be tolerated on this program…
All views will be entertained and challenged right here.”
End Arroyo excerpt.

Recipients of this email should also be aware that EWTN misrepresented this discussion to Carol Andress of EDF. Ms Andress was not invited to participate in a “Climate Change Debate” and was not informed that Marc Morano would be a guest. If she had been told these things, she would have declined the invitation. This was ambush journalism of the cheapest kind.

RE: EWTN Disrespects Pope Francis in Front of Catholic Viewers

Dear Bishop Baker:

The Diocese of Birmingham should immediately sever all connections with, support for, and ties to The EWTN Global Catholic Network [5817 Old Leeds Road, Irondale, AL 35210] that is located within the Diocese of Birmingham. My reason for insisting that the Diocese of Birmingham take such a harsh stance against EWTN is due to the controversial “Climate Change Debate” hosted by EWTN’s The World Over with Raymond Arroyo on May 15, 2015 [1]. This “Climate Change Debate” was to both discredit the Papacy of Pope Francis as well as used EWTN to deny that Global Warming is genuine and factually based on scientific evidence.

This EWTN “Climate Change Debate” was between Marc Morano and Carol L. Andress. Morano is connected with the Heartland Institute, a libertarian organization that worships Mammon. He has a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from George Mason University. Andress is the Director of Legislative Operations for the Environmental Defense Fund, an environmental organization. She has a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from Duke University. Neither one of these debaters are scientists capable of discussing the scientific evidence of Global Warming. Due to their own lack of credentials in the science of Global Warming, all the debaters could do was present the findings by the scientists who are actually engaged in the science of Global Warming.

Jim Lakely — also with the Heartland Institute — reported that Morano embarrassed [beat] Andress in this “Climate Change Debate” [2]. Lakely wrote in this blog that “EWTN, America’s leading cable network for Catholics broadcast to 148 millions homes around the world, hosted a debate Thursday night about Pope Francis’ plan to insert himself into the center of the global climate debate on ‘The World Over with Raymond Arroyo.’” On the Morano’s webpage — “Climate Depot : A project of CFACT”, Morano wrote that he “‘kicked warmist [Andress] butt on EWTN — now warmists want him banned. [3]” The warmists that Morano is referring to is “Faithful America” [4]. Morano also wrote on his web site that “‘Eternal Word Television Network (ETWN) just invited notorious climate denier Marc Morano to ‘debate’ whether …

Karl et al. hiatus killer is “research” that began with conclusions

http://feedproxy.google.com/~r/LuboMotlsReferenceFrame/~3/ocN5NaBfgoE/karl-et-al-hiatus-killer-is-research.html

All the major teams that try to quantify the “global mean temperature” indicate that the warming/cooling trend has been basically zero for almost two decades. RSS AMSU, a satellite record, shows a trend that is exactly zero (infinitesimally negative, I guess) in the recent 18.50 years. When you allow small trends that are clearly not statistically significant, you will conclude that even longer recent periods lack any sign of “global warming”.This absence of “global warming” in the recent decades is usually referred to as the “hiatus”. I am using the word myself – and so do most skeptics and alarmists (except for those alarmists who think that the very word is a blasphemy, of course) – but if you asked me, I would probably reply that it is a silly name because the word “hiatus” indicates that it’s a temporary break in some process that otherwise takes place permanently.I don’t really believe that there is any sufficiently reliable, strong, persistent process that could be called “global warming”. So the absence of a temperature trend in a 20-year window is as normal an outcome as you can get. Sometimes, the temperatures get higher in 20 years. Sometimes they get lower. An underlying “warming trend” from some source (e.g. CO2) can make the former possibility slightly more likely than the latter one. Sometimes the temperatures stay nearly constant. There’s no rational need to invent catchy names for these three possibilities, especially not for the most mundane third possibility.A whole discipline of pseudoscience – one pretending to be science, like most pseudosciences – has been created. It is the “climate change science” whose preachers – pretending to be scientists – shout that the sky is falling. The “hiatus” is an inconvenient truth for these “researchers” so as of mid May 2015, they have proposed 63 explanations of the hiatus. The heat is hiding in the ocean and will marvelously jump out, debunk the second law of thermodynamics, and fry the world during Easter 2016. The “hiatus” is due to a Chinese chimney. It was eaten by a dog. And so on, and so on. Finally, as I saw on all the skeptics blogs – but Bill Z. made me much more interested – we have the 64th explanation of the “hiatus”. The “hiatus” no longer exists and the global warming has returned …
