NOW RICO TURNED AGAINST CLIMATE-CHANGE ACTIVISTS

BY BOB UNRUH

It was a year ago when a long list of scientists wrote to the Obama administration urging the federal government to use RICO, the Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act, against global-warming skeptics.

They said in a letter addressed to President Obama, Attorney General Loretta Lynch and Office of Science and Technology Policy Director John Holdren they “appreciate that you are making aggressive and imaginative use of the limited tools available to you in the face of a recalcitrant Congress.”

“One additional tool – recently proposed by Sen. Sheldon Whitehouse – is a RICO (Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act) investigation of corporations and other organizations that have knowingly deceived the American people about the risks of climate change, as a means to forestall America’s response to climate change,” they wrote, according to Politico.

Now the tables are turned.

A mathematician and software engineer has filed a lawsuit in Texas naming dozens of environmental groups and others seeking to influence public action and expenditures regarding global warming programs in an action alleging violations of RICO.

Plaintiff Leonid Goldstein explains at the outset of his complaint, “This is a civil suit against Climate Action Network and other corporations, who engaged in a long-term criminal scheme, involving a false claim that anthropogenic release (or emissions) of carbon dioxide caused a dangerous ‘global warming’ or a dangerous ‘climate change,’ and persecution of the dissidents or demanding government actions, based on this false claim, including money transfer.

“In fact, the anthropogenic release of carbon dioxide significantly increases agricultural production worldwide. The surface warming, theoretically caused by increased concentration of carbon dioxide, is insignificant and almost undetectable, and is expected to be globally beneficial.”

Democrats – Global warming is too important to wait for democracy?

This comes from Bernie Sanders’ website.

According to the Vermont Senator’s website, the Democratic Party draft platform reads:

“Democrats believe that climate change is too important to wait for climate deniers and defeatists in Congress to start listening to science, and support using every tool available to reduce emissions now.”

Too important to wait for Congress? Why would anyone who values freedom vote for Hillary?

Emails Show Dem AGs Are Wary Of Launching RICO Case Against Exxon

Internal emails reveal attorneys general are worried investigations of ExxonMobil for its global warming stance is an exercise in “rhetorical overreach.”

Emails released by conservative legal group Energy & Environmental Legal Institute (E&E Legal) show state attorneys general are not in lockstep with New York Attorney General Eric Schneiderman’s investigation into Exxon that’s ensnared groups labeled as skeptical of man-made global warming by environmental activists.

Internal concerns began to flare up after Schneiderman’s press office released a statement in March that announced “[a]n unprecedented coalition of top law enforcement officials committed to aggressively protecting and building upon the recent progress the United States has made in combating climate change.”

Secret Deal Among AGs to Prosecute Climate Change ‘Deniers’ Challenged in Court

By signing a “secrecy pact” with fellow Democrat attorneys general preparing to prosecute climate change skeptics, Rhode Island’s top law enforcement officer jeopardized free speech rights and government transparency laws, according to two legal organizations that have taken him to court.

“They sought to write themselves out from open records laws their legislatures saw fit to write them into,” @ceidotorg’s Chris Horner says.

Rhode Island Attorney General Peter Kilmartin’s tactics in supporting President Barack Obama’s climate change policy violate state law guaranteeing access to public records, the two groups, Energy and Environment Legal Institute and Free Market Environmental Law Clinic, claim in their lawsuit.

If Kilmartin and the other attorneys general prevail in the deal to keep select details secret, the ordinary citizen will be the loser, Chris Horner, a leading critic of climate change orthodoxy, said.

“It will mean that they can create privilege for what are otherwise public records, even when shared with ideological activists and donors, so long as everyone who wants to keep their scheming secret agrees in advance,” Horner told The Daily Signal.

Thelawsuit, filed July 27 in Rhode Island Superior Court, calls for Kilmartin, a Democrat, to release records that were not previously disclosed in response to the legal organizations’ request in April.

At issue is a “Climate Change Conference Common Interest Agreement” that, email records show, Kilmartin’s representative signed along with representatives of 16 other state attorneys general.

In the past few months, leading political figures and academics who support Obama’s policy on climate change have called for prosecuting those who disagree under the federal law known as RICO—the Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act.

Congress passed RICO in 1978 for the purpose of prosecuting mob crimes, but now climate change activists want to use it against organizations, corporations, and individual scientists who are not convinced that human activity is responsible for catastrophic climate change.…

Say what?! NYT features Warmist: ‘How Lowering Crime Could Contribute to Global Warming’ – ‘Fewer prisoners might mean higher overall energy consumption’

How Lowering Crime Could Contribute to Global Warming - The New York Times.clipular

https://wattsupwiththat.com/2016/08/05/friday-funny-some-people-just-arent-clear-on-the-concept-of-crime-doesnt-pay/

Get a load of this. We’ve all heard the usual hate-speech that climate skeptics should be “locked up” for having an alternate opinion.

But, did you ever think you’d see something as ridiculous as this in the NYT?

…inmates generally consume less than an average citizen in the country, so fewer prisoners might mean higher overall energy consumption.

Additionally, the money saved from reducing crime would go into the government’s budget and people’s pockets. All that money could be spent in other ways — infrastructure, buildings or goods — that may require more energy to produce or operate, possibly adding more greenhouse gases to the atmosphere.

In other words, if we’re all locked up, that’s good! Smaller carbon footprint!! More criminals running free means more GHG’s. Perhaps this will quell the mentally aberrant thinking of California Governor Jerry Brown, who wants to release even more criminals -both violent and non-violent.
