Michael Mann Vs the Truth at Congressional Climate Hearing – Caught in Multiple Provable Falsehoods

by JAMES DELINGPOLE 31 Mar 201751

Apart from being a tetchy, hotheaded, rude, bullying, cackhanded, ignorant, malevolent and embarrassingly useless excuse for a scientist, Professor Michael Mann – the guy behind the serially-discredited Hockey Stick – is also the most outrageous liar.

Mann used often to claim that he was a Nobel Prizewinner – till someone unhelpfully pointed out that he was but one of hundreds of scientists who contributed to Assessment Reports by the IPCC (which did win the Nobel Prize in 2007)

This week the bald-pated shyster was up to his old tricks again, telling a string of porkie pies at a climate science hearing of the House Committee on Science, Space and Technology.

Given how litigious the mendacious, bloviating poltroon can be – he’s currently engaged in at least two defamation suits: one against Tim Ball, the other against Mark Steyn – I obviously have to tread very carefully here.

So I’d just like to say, as delicately and politely as I can to the Distinguished Professor of Atmospheric Science at Penn State University:

“Liar, liar. Your pants on fire.”

Here’s the evidence:

Porkie Number One

Mann told the Congressional hearing he had no association or affiliation with the Climate Accountability Institute (one of the numerous ad hoc organisations formed in order to give the harassment of climate sceptics an air of scientific credibility).

Yet according to his CV he sits on the Climate Accountability Institute’s advisory board and has done since 2014.

Porkie Number Two

Mann denied having called his fellow climate scientist and special witness, former Georgia Tech Judith Curry, a “denier”.

“A number of statements have been attributed to me. I don’t believe I’ve called anybody a denier,” he solemnly told the hearing.

To which Judith Curry, sitting next to him, replied: “It’s in your written testimony. Go read it again.”

You can watch the moment where Curry smacks him down below:

Mann then proceeded indignantly to quibble that though he might have called Curry a “climate science denier” he hadn’t called her a “climate change denier”. [As if there’s any meaningful distinction between the two slurs]. But this claim – as Stephen McIntyre notes – was also a lie.

confronted with written evidence that he called Curry “climate science denier”, Mann said he hadnt called her “climate CHANGE denier”.

TRUMP TO ANNOUNCE MORE BIG CLIMATE SCIENCE CUTS

  • Date: 30/03/17
  • Andrew Follett, The Daily Caller

President Donald Trump is looking to cut another $140 million in funding from government-funded global warming science programs, according to Space.com.

Trump will ask Congress to cut $90 million in funding for the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s (NOAA) weather satellite programs and another $50 million from NASA global warming science programs.

The programs slashed include: NOAA’s Geostationary Operational Environmental Satellite R (GOES-R), Joint Polar Satellite System (JPSS), and  Earth Observing Nanosatellite-Microwave (EON-MW). These programs all study earth’s climate and measure global warming.

NOAA spends more than $100 million on global warming while NASA’s budget includes more than $2 billion for global warming and earth science. This money is generally specifically allocated to improve climate modeling, measurement of carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions, and weather prediction. In comparison, NASA’s other functions, such as astrophysics and space technology, are only getting a mere $781.5 and $826.7 million, respectively, in the 2017 budget proposal.

Federal agencies plan to spend $27 billion on global warming-related programs next year. The Government Accountability Office (GAO) estimates the federal government spent $77 billion from 2008 to 2013 on climate programs.

Shocker: Little known ‘Financial Stability Board’ has huge climate deceit

SB, Climate Cabal expand power and wealth, by targeting financial and insurance industries

Foreword:

A powerful international organization, the Financial Stability Board, includes a task force that is helping to coordinate numerous attacks on financial, investing, insurance and other firms … and their clients … in the name of preventing dangerous manmade climate change. By locking up centuries of fossil fuel reserves, the FSB’s army of agitators hope to benefit immensely – at the expense of ordinary people everywhere.

The vice-chair of the FSB’s climate disclosure task force says the world will have to spend $93 trillion over the next 15 years on “renewable, sustainable” energy and low-carbon infrastructure programs, as part of the Climate Crisis, Inc. plan to de-carbonize and de-industrialize the planet. Naturally, most of that money will flow to its crony corporatist allies. Their ultimate goal is to enrich and empower themselves … and fundamentally transform the global economy – to our detriment, and especially the detriment of the world’s poorest families – using our taxpayer, consumer, and investment, retirement, insurance and pension fund money!…

Trump’s Budget Takes a Cleaver to Cronyism and Waste at the Energy Department

President Donald Trump released his budget blueprint today, and his proposal for the Department of Energy is a breath of fresh air. This proposal reflects the president’s priority of “[putting] America first by keeping more of America’s hard-earned tax dollars here at home.” Opponents have pilloried the draft as anti-science, anti-clean energy, and even extreme—all of which lack merit.

Trump Budget: US To Stop Funding UN Climate Process

In a budget blueprint released on Thursday morning, US president Donald Trump proposed sweeping cuts to US financial support for the global fight against climate change. The title page called it the “America First” budget. “Our aim is to meet the simple, but crucial demand of our citizens – a Government that puts the needs of its own people first,” said Trump in a foreword addressed to the US Congress.

ALERT: A Joyful Day in DC! White House declares ‘global warming’ funding is ‘a waste of your money’

Cheers! Trump May Be Boosting ‘Climate Change Doubt’ – Poll: GOP Voters Climate Skepticism Doubles in Past Year

The White House on Thursday defended a proposal to slash federal funding for climate change programs, calling it “a waste of your money.”

“I think the president was fairly straightforward on that: We’re not spending money on that anymore,” Office of Management and Budget Director Mick Mulvaney said at a White House briefing on Thursday.

“We consider that to be a waste of your money to go out and do that. We consider that a basic tie to his campaign.”

The Trump administration released a budget blueprint on Thursday that proposes a 31 percent cut the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), including a $100 million cut to climate change programs under its purview.

The budget proposal takes aim at climate change programming throughout the budget. It zeros out funding for State Department climate change programs, including American contributions to international climate change accounts, and the budget also reduces funding for advanced energy and renewable power research.

Environmentalists and greens have slammed the budget, saying lawmakers should not cut funding for climate change during a period of increasing global temperatures and the greenhouse gas emissions that cause that.…
