Before the Flood is a new “documentary” that chronicles DiCaprio’s carbon-spewing journey across the planet, where he relies on natural disasters to prove that global warming is occurring and catastrophic.
The Oscar-winning actor speaks to scientists, politicians, and academics who provide dramatic soundbites about man-made global warming, but he fails to include a single quote from the thousands of scientists, politicians, and academics who vehemently disagree with these soundbites.
The United Nations has made frequent use of the Hollywood star in an effort to demonize fossil fuel use. The result? DiCaprio’s new film is something the actor claims will “scare the hell” out of people.
But the only thing more likely to scare audiences is the aw-shucks, privileged dilettante who says he’s just a “normal guy” like everybody else. In reality, DiCaprio is a party boy who loves his carbon-emitting playthings as much as he enjoys preaching the global warming gospel. It’s a skill he acquired from Al Gore, after a 1998 visit to the White House. Shortly thereafter, he formed the Leonardo DiCaprio Foundation to address environmental concerns.
The documentary comes at a curious time, since DiCaprio and his foundation are caught up in a scandal that has launched calls for him to step down from his post as a “U.N. Messenger of Peace with a special focus on climate change.”
John Kerry Says DiCaprio’s New Global Warming Doc Will Turn GOP Into Believers
Secretary of State John Kerry is convinced actor Leonardo DiCaprio’s documentary about climate change will transform Republicans into climate change warriors.
DiCaprio’s global warming-themed documentary, “Before The Flood,” will almost certainly persuade climate change skeptics in Congress to soften their hearts on the environment, Kerry told a United Nations panel Thursday night.
The documentary shows the Oscar winner jet-setting around the world, watching glaciers from helicopters, and convening with President Barack Obama and electric vehicle automaker Elon Musk, who sees himself as an anti-oil crusader.
“As a 28-year veteran of the Senate who knows Jim Inhofe well and many of the other people depicted in the film, maybe Nov. 8 will produce a capacity for the entire Republican caucus to go to the Goddard Space Center, NASA, see that map and to see this film,” Kerry said, referring to Republican Sen. Jim Inhoffe of Oklahoma.
“It should be required for every single one of them,” he added.
DiCaprio, who attended the panel in New York alongside Kerry, mirrored the former Massachusetts senator’s sentiments, telling those in attendance that he was “incredibly moved” by the climate scientists in the film.
DiCaprio Agrees To Give Back Money Linked To $3 Billion Embezzlement Scandal
Actor Leonardo DiCaprio promised Tuesday to give back the money linked to an embezzlement scandal that helped pay for the production of “The Wolf of Wall Street.”
The Oscar-winner will return any gifts or donations connected to the Malaysian 1MDB wealth fund scandal once a fraud investigation of the fund is conducted, DiCaprio said in a press statement.
“Both Mr DiCaprio and [the Leonardo DiCaprio Foundation] continue to be entirely supportive of all efforts to assure that justice is done in this matter,” the statement said. “Mr DiCaprio is grateful for the lead and instruction of the government on how to accomplish this.”
Federal investigators believe more than $10 million was allegedly embezzled from 1Malaysia Development Bhd., also known as 1MDB, and directed to businessman Frank White Jr. The U.S. Department of Justice claims that more than $3.5 billion was stolen from the fund and by people connected to the Malaysian prime minister.

A rainforest charity calls on the star to either denounce his connection to individuals involved in a Malaysian corruption scandal and return laundered money he allegedly received or give up his role.
In perhaps the biggest attack on Leonardo DiCaprio’s environmental credibility, a rainforest charity on Friday called on the actor to give up his title as UN Messenger of Peace with a special focus on climate change.
At a press conference in London, the Bruno Manser Funds offered DiCaprio an ultimatum: either he renounce his connections to the “politically exposed persons” at the center of the multi-billion dollar 1MDB Malaysian corruption scandal now being investigated by the U.S. Justice Department and return corrupt money he allegedly received or resign from the position he was given by UN secretary general Ban Ki-moon in 2014.
“If DiCaprio is unwilling to come clean, we ask him to step down as UN Messenger for Peace for climate change, because he simply lacks the credibility for such an important role,” said Lukas Straumann, director of the Switzerland-based charity, which has a particular focus on deforestation in Malaysia.
DiCaprio is alleged to have received millions of dollars diverted from the 1MDB sovereign wealth fund for his role as star and producer of The Wolf of Wall Street, alleged by the DOJ to have been funded by stolen Malaysian money and produced by Red Granite, co-founded by Riza Aziz, the stepson of the Malaysian prime minister and a major figure in a DOJ filing. He is also alleged to have received laundered 1MDB money for his charity, the Leonardo DiCaprio Foundation, from his former close associate Jho Low, the controversial Malaysian businessman at the heart of the scandal.
