Inconvenient data for those who still insist climate change is making hurricanes more frequent is displayed in these two slides from Dr. Philip Klotzbach. As noted by Dr. Roger Pielke Jr. The bottom dropped out of US hurricanes over the last 10 years.
CommonDreams.org quoted Al Gore back in 2005:
… the science is extremely clear now, that warmer oceans make the average hurricane stronger, not only makes the winds stronger, but dramatically increases the moisture from the oceans evaporating into the storm – thus magnifying its destructive power – makes the duration, as well as the intensity of the hurricane, stronger.
Last year we had a lot of hurricanes. Last year, Japan set an all-time record for typhoons: ten, the previous record was seven. Last year the science textbooks had to be re-written. They said, “It’s impossible to have a hurricane in the south Atlantic.” We had the first one last year, in Brazil. We had an all-time record last year for tornadoes in the United States, 1,717 – largely because hurricanes spawned tornadoes.
Since Katrina, climate activists have beat a steady drumbeat warning of doom.

Action films, romantic comedies, and animations aren’t the only things coming to theaters this summer – so is Al Gore.
Gore: “The next generation would be justified in looking back at us and asking: ‘What were you thinking? Couldn’t you hear what the scientists were saying? Couldn’t you hear what Mother Nature was screaming at you?'”
That’s a portion of An Inconvenient Sequel: Truth to Power – the follow-up to An Inconvenient Truth, which followed Gore on the lecture circuit as he tried to bring awareness to what the former vice president calls “dangerous man-made global warming” or “climate change.”
An Inconvenient Sequel will again document the environmental activist’s travels, along with his push for alternative energy and statements in 2016 from now-President Donald Trump. If you ask Marc Morano of Climate Depot, it appears that Gore is up to his old tricks again.
“We actually sent an undercover agent up to Robert Redford’s film festival in Utah and they got into the film,” says Morano. “I haven’t seen it myself, but the film sounds like it was going in one direction – [but] then Trump won and they had to do some quick rewrites. So now it’s a cautionary tale.”
Critics and news outlets have pointed out that An Inconvenient Truth was inaccurate when it hit the screens in 2006. Michael Bastach of The Daily Caller wrote in May 2016 that years later, Gore’s film is “still alarmingly inaccurate.” It was also in 2016 that Gore’s doomsday clock expired, causing David French to write “Apocalypse Delayed” in a related article for National Review. More recently, columnist Aaron Bandler documents what he categorizes as the “nine biggest lies” in the first installment.
Morano has also taken exception to things in An Inconvenient Truth.
“It appears Al Gore justifies his absurd claims of Florida being underwater by showing scenes of Hurricane Sandy flooding, as if that’s the sea-level rise,” says Morano about An Inconvenient Sequel. “First of all, he implied that sea level would be permanently rising, not a storm surge; and second, Sandy was a bad storm – but it still doesn’t account for the fact that hurricanes are actually on the decline and big, severe ones are unbelievably on the decline.”

A decade ago, Al Gore’s 2006 faux-umentary about climate change called “An Inconvenient Truth” won two Oscars. No, it wasn’t in the propaganda or fantasy category, though it should have been. It was filled with so many falsehoods that a British judge said it could not be shown to students unless it included a notice pointing out the errors.
A quick Google search shows there is no shortage of articles outlining the movie’s flaws and identifying Gore as the carnival huckster that he is.
Despite the problems with “An Inconvenient Truth,” Gore is back with “An Inconvenient Sequel: Truth to Power,” scheduled to open this summer. No doubt the politically correct voters at the Academy will adore this one, too. Gore speaks the language of the self-righteous, self-appointed moral superiors, so they will be happy to again celebrate one of their own while welling up inside with a sense of pride.
It gives them yet another reason to tell themselves that, yes, we are heroic people. The more rational among us call this virtue-signaling.
Some would justifiably wonder why Gore would make a sequel. Does he think that another round of junk science and Gore-ish hectoring will protect the world from the scourge he’s been nagging the public about for decades? Because he’s the man who said at his first movie’s premiere that “unless drastic measures to reduce greenhouse gases are taken within the next 10 years, the world will reach a point of no return.” Isn’t it simply too late now to do anything?
No doubt Gore’s next fabulous fable will show “evidence” that man is dangerously warming his planet by pointing out some things that are different than they were in 2006 and fit the warming alarmists’ claims that human-driven climate change is going to make things hotter, colder, wetter, drier, windier, less windy, snowier and less snowy.

Perhaps it’s because most of the calamities predicted in the first movie didn’t happen, hurricanes didn’t increase in frequency and strength, polar ice caps didn’t melt, NY and other coastal cities aren’t underwater, Mt. Kilimanjaro still is snow-capped, tornadoes aren’t increasing in frequency and strength, the arctic isn’t melting, the Antarctic ice extent is growing, oh and the polar bear population is doing very well thank you. So former VP Al Gore wants to try another movie. He didn’t however take my suggestion and call the movie, “More Crap That Wont Happen.” The inventor of the internet did come up with something new and creative, he blamed Brexit on Climate Change, so it gets added to the “Stupid things blamed on climate change” list.
His latest theory is that climate change caused the British Brexit vote:

Former Vice President Al Gore claimed 10 Republican senators are ready to turn on President Donald Trump on global warming policy.
“There’s a new development, there are now 30 Republican members of the House of Representatives who have changed sides on this issue and have become part of a group committed to solving the climate crisis,” Gore told The Independent. “There are about 10 Republican senators who right now are considering changing sides, a couple already have.”
Gore did not identify who these ready-to-defect Republican lawmakers are, but said with their help, “we are going to win this, there’s no question about that,” and that “[h]istory is on our side.”
He made these remarks at an event in the United Kingdom, where he previewed his new film, “An Inconvenient Sequel: Truth to Power.”
Gore also argued Trump wouldn’t be able to stop the environmental movement.
“He [Trump] is seemingly determined to eliminate all of the Government programs that he can eliminate that would help the US reach its goals but the speed and force of this transformation underway in the West may lead to the achievement of the US goals regardless of what he does,” Gore said.…

Brexit was caused in part by climate change, former US Vice-President Al Gore has said, warning that extreme weather is creating political instability “the world will find extremely difficult to deal with”.
Mr Gore, speaking at an event in which he previewed a sequel to his landmark 2006 documentary, An Inconvenient Truth, said the “principal” cause of the Syrian Civil War had been the worst drought in 900 years, which forced 1.5 million people to move from the countryside to the cities.
There they met a similar number of Iraqis who had fled the conflict in their homeland, creating powder keg conditions that Syrian government officials privately feared would explode.
The resulting war brought more refugees into Europe, causing political instability and helping convince some in the UK to vote to leave the European Union.
One of the most controversial Leave campaign posters showed a queue of refugees stretching into the distance with the caption “Breaking point: The EU has failed us all”. The then-Chancellor, George Osborne, described the poster as “disgusting and vile” and, like others who explicitly compared it to Nazi propaganda, said it had “echoes of literature used in the 1930s”.

For decades, we’ve heard the Chickens Little cry that the sky is warming. Then, in 2009, a hack of climate researchers’ emails at the University of East Anglia indicated that things weren’t quite on the up-and-up, science-wise. Climatologists had massaged global temperature records to bolster their claims of man-made global warming, and they had destroyed emails to skirt FOIA requests. “Climategate,” as it came to be called, suggested that many of the alarming reports about global warming had been fake news.
It happened again about a month ago. On February 4, Dr. John Bates, “senior scientist” at NOAA’s temperature data center (until his retirement in late 2016), reported that his own organization had not quite been on the up-and-up, science-wise. He alleged that Thomas Karl, director of the temperature data center (until his own retirement earlier last year), had “breached [NOAA’s] own rules on scientific integrity when [he] published [a] sensational but flawed report” and rushed it into print in order to influence global leaders at the U.N. Climate Conference in Paris in 2015.
That paper, called the “Pausebuster,” cited new data purporting to show that the hiatus in global warming since 1998 had not occurred. According to Dr. Bates, however, Dr. Karl had put his “thumb on the scale” by releasing new data that were “misleading” and “unverified.” Furthermore, it is unlikely ever to be verified: Dr. Bates also reported that the computer used to process the data “had suffered a complete failure.” Hello, Climategate 2.0!
Oh, you’d never heard of it? I bet you’ve heard a lot about the 2015 Paris Climate Accords that were agreed to in part because of the fake “Pausebuster” data. But the mainstream media have little interest writing stories that refute liberal assumptions, so fake news becomes no news. To hear about Climategate 2.0, you’d have to follow alternative sources like Manhattan Contrarian (where I first learned of it), or Judith Curry, or Watt’s Up with That?, or the U.K.’s Daily Mail.
This pattern of fake news followed by no news has been repeated throughout the era of climate change fabulist fear-mongering. Climate Change: U.S. output of so-called greenhouse gases continues to decline, a new report shows. Even so, global warming activists are likely to be disappointed. The drop has nothing to do with their pet cause, alternative energy.
That’s right. The Environmental Protection Agency’s yearly greenhouse gas emissions report noted that after rising slightly in 2013 and 2014, greenhouse gas output fell in 2015 — the most recent full year for which data are available.
OK, but maybe it was a one-year fluke? Hardly.
First off, the drop was significant in size — 2.2% on an annual basis, far too big to be a fluke or statistical anomaly.
Second, as the folks at The American Interest helpfully point out, “U.S. energy-related CO2 emissions hit a 25-year low over the first six months of 2016, continuing the progress that the EPA says we made in 2015.”
So it’s continuing. More important, The Hill reminds, “The EPA attributed the overall decline to lower carbon dioxide emissions from burning fossil fuels, which itself came about because of less coal consumption in favor of natural gas, warmer winter weather that decreased heating fuel demand and lower electricity demand overall.”
This continues a long-term trend for the U.S. of lower greenhouse gas emissions. Ironically, while the U.S. was pilloried for not ratifying the Kyoto Accord (though then-Vice President Al Gore ostentatiously signed it, despite knowing that the Senate wouldn’t ratify it) to reduce global greenhouse gas emissions, it is the only major industrial nation actually slashing its output.
Since the Kyoto Accord was struck in 1997, Energy Department data show, U.S. output of greenhouse gases plunged 7.3%, even though real U.S. GDP over that time has grown a whopping 52%. We’re greener today than we have been in decades.
Go figure.
For all this progress, we can thank the fracking business, which has given U.S. industry and homes access to massive amounts of cheap, relatively clean natural gas. It may yet make possible a U.S. industrial renaissance — and bring back jobs now done overseas, not by government trade protectionism but by pursuing free-market energy policies that will lead to

Former Vice President #Al Gore is back and our future has never been bleaker. That was the message he delivered at a Climate & Health meeting he hastily organized after a Centers for Disease Control (CDC) #Climate Change conference got postponed. Despite having a 10-year record of failed climate predictions, Gore blamed everything from contagious diseases to food shortages to #Extreme Weather on global warming.
At the meeting held yesterday at the Carter Center in Atlanta, Gore and invited guests said climate-related risks were “obviously” increasing. Every night on TV, he said, was like a “hike through the Book of Revelations,” his favorite refrain. But Gore was misleading the attendees and the media as he often does in his movies and lectures.
With many areas becoming much more densely populated, when a storm does strike more damage occurs. Storms have not increased, only populations and expensive items. Data shows there hasn’t been an increase in floods, droughts, tornadoes, or other climate-related weather. And a category-3 or higher hurricane hasn’t made landfall in the United States in over 11 years.
Cold kills more than heat
Heat waves, Gore said, were the number one climate-related cause of death in the United States. And a scientist from the activist group Natural Resources Defense Council said the rate of warming in the last 30 years was unlike anything in the past 1,000 years. Again, untrue. Tony Heller, who operates Real Climate Science, plotted out the frequency of hot days (those over 100°F) showing they have actually plunged in the last 80 years.…
