Sept. 21, NYC: The People’s Frozen Climate March?

September 9th, 2014 by Roy W. Spencer, Ph. D.

It seems more than appropriate that the Gore Effect might be in full swing in NYC on Sept. 21 when climate hand-wringers from around the country gather to protest the world being maybe a full degree warmer than it was 100 years ago.

The latest Climate Forecast System forecast for the 10-day period around that blessed event (12 days from now) shows the eastern U.S. pretty dang chilly, with temperatures averaging 8-10 deg. below normal (Plot courtesy of WeatherBell.com):

Of course, now that cold weather is also the fault of global warming the participants can complain about that, too.

  1. They’re actually hoping for 100,000 people in NYC for that event, or so I read last night on some web site. I seriously doubt they will come anywhere close to that number.

  2. would not bet the house on that being that cold. Could be a pleasant day as core of the cold may be east of them. The 5 day period ENDING the 21st might be cool, but the 21st right now looks great, 70s, in fact above normal. Its foolish, IMO to start trying to propagandize this as you may simply be handing ammo to them as the day looks nice to me. The single day 21st is likely to be warm in the northeast.. I have put it on for you. I would get that headline down, asking for trouble given potential they have a nice day
