Warren Buffett says ‘global warming’ is not impacting insurance industry
Berkshire Hathaway CEO Warren Buffett on Monday said he has not yet seen sufficient evidence that climate change is affecting weather events to a degree that would make him change the way his conglomerate’s insurance businesses write policies.
Events such as Hurricane Sandy have raised concerns that global warming is increasing the intensity and frequency of so-called superstorms.
“I have not seen anything yet that would cause me to change the way we look at evaluating quakes, tornadoes, hurricanes by atmosphere. Now, that may happen some day,” he told CNBC’s “Squawk Box.”
He added that the frequency of Florida hurricanes has been “quite low” for roughly the last decade compared to historical trends, and storms in the Sunshine State, Texas and the U.S. Southeast have been “remarkably benign.”
Buffett delivered a similar assessment in last year’s annual letter to shareholders. In that letter, he said climate change had not up until then “produced more frequent nor more costly hurricanes nor other weather-related events covered by insurance.”
That caused rates for super-catastrophe insurance to fall, leading Berkshire to back away from the products, according to Buffett. Costlier and more frequent “super-cats” would actually likely benefit Berkshire’s insurance business, he wrote.
At the time the letter was released, Buffett was facing a proposal from a shareholder that asked Berkshire to report on the dangers climate change poses to the company’s insurance operations.
Research shows it is premature to conclude greenhouse gas emissions from human activities “have already had a detectable impact on Atlantic hurricane or global tropical cyclone activity,” according to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration.
NOAA added human-caused global warming is likely to make tropical cyclones around the world more intense by the end of the century, increasing the destructive potential of storms. NOAA also says research shows “better than even odds” that warming will increase the frequency in some — but not all — parts of the world.
Listen Now: Morano: NOAA RESEARCHERS VIOLATED AGENCIES DATA QUALITY
MARC MORANO: NOAA RESEARCHERS VIOLATED THE AGENCIES DATA QUALITY AND STORAGE STANDARDS
Decorated National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration research scientist John Bates has become a whistleblower, disclosing NOAA scientist violated agency protocols in a rush to publish unverified research for political reasons.
Marc Morano publisher of Climate Depot discusses the growing scandal surrounding newly retired decorated National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration research scientist John Bates decision to become a whistleblower and disclose how NOAA scientist violated agency protocols in a rush to publish unverified research that purported to show there had been no 18 year long pause in rising temperatures as every other temperature data set in the world recorded, rather temperatures had risen at an alarming rate. The scientists violated the agency’s rules, rushing to publication data which had yet to be tested and confirmed in order to influence the outcome of the Paris climate negotiations in 2015. In a second breach of agency protocol, the scientists failed to properly archive and store their datasets. Subsequently, some of the original data sets were lost when the computer used to process the data suffered a complete failure.
Morano says the NOAA researchers learned nothing from the Climategate scandal of 2009, ignoring the need for transparency and accountability bringing climate science into further disrepute and public mistrust.
Susan Crockford: Polar Bears are Doing Well, Despite Climate Fear Mongering
…International Polar Bear Day Sees Population Pop 27% Despite ‘Global Warming’
On International Polar Bear Day 2017, the world’s polar bear population is up 27% from 2005 – despite some environmentalists’ fears of global warming.
The day is intended to raise awareness to the supposed plight of the polar bear:
“Feb. 27 marks International Polar Bear Day, an annual event meant to raise awareness of polar bears and their conservation status. Polar bears are considered a vulnerable species by the International Union for Conservation of Nature.”
Conservationists continue to warn of the polar bear’s doom because their claims are based on “unverifiable predictions,” not proof, ClimateDepot.com Publisher Marc Morano tells CNSNews.com:
“There is a lot to celebrate about polar bears today. The feared ‘global warming’ has failed to harm the species as their numbers continue to increase.
“It’s odd that a species whose numbers continue to escalate is still being hyped as being “endangered” based upon unverifiable predictions of the future.
“The greatest threat that polar bears face may only be from the electrons in the hard drives of the scientists predicting polar bear doom decades from now.”

Fake Polar Bear Scare Unmasked: The Saga of a Toppled Global Warming Icon
Guest essay by Dr. Susan Crockford
For more than ten years, we’ve endured the shrill media headlines, the hyperbole from conservation organizations, and the simplistic platitudes from scientists as summer sea ice declined dramatically while polar bear numbers rose.
Now, just in time for International Polar Bear Day, there’s a video that deconstructs the scare. It runs about 8 minutes, written and narrated by me, produced by the Global Warming Policy Foundation.…

Petition: Investigate NOAA impartially
No Whitewash!
Friend,
Did government researchers at the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration tamper with temperature data to boost the global warming campaign?
Dr. John Bates, a climate scientist and former official with NOAA, says they did.
This needs to be fully investigated, but we must not allow climate campaigners to turn this investigation into an exercise in whitewashing.
CFACT is petitioning President Trump to ensure the people investigating NOAA are genuine, impartial outsiders.
Please sign this important petition today and forward it to as many friends as possible.
The climate campaign will use its influence to whitewash improper practices at NOAA, but only if we let them.
Sign the petition and tell the President to find out what’s really been going on at NOAA.
For nature and people too,

Bill Nye ‘The Science Guy’ Says ‘Climate Deniers’ Suffer Psychological Delusions
Climate change skeptics suffer from cognitive dissonance on global warming, a type of psychological disorder that prevents people from recognizing reality, the comedian and former TV show host told Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders during a Facebook Live event.
“To the deniers out there. I want you to think about what is called cognitive dissonance,” Nye said, referring to situations wherein people prefer to bury their head in the sand instead of facing reality. It’s up to environmentalists and everybody else to save skeptics from themselves, he added.
“Instead of accepting that the climate is changing, deniers are denying the evidence and dismissing the authorities” simply because they don’t want to face a harsh reality, Nye said.
“I know it may not be very popular thing to say, but the long-term implications of doing nothing about climate change are catastrophic,” Nye said about what could happen if Americans don’t take seriously President Donald Trump’s skepticism.
Nye, who has a history of making dubious comments directed at skeptics, also brought up what he calls the connection between so-called denialism and the cigarette industry’s refusal to acknowledge the negative health properties of cigarettes.
“It’s amazing to me that fossil fuel companies continue to use the same tactics as the tobacco industry,” Nye told Sanders.
The comedian has made similar comments in the past.
“Was it appropriate to jail the guys from Enron?” Nye asked in a video interview with Climate Depot’s Marc Morano in April. “We’ll see what happens. Was it appropriate to jail people from the cigarette industry who insisted that this addictive product was not addictive, and so on?”
“In these cases, for me, as a taxpayer and voter, the introduction of this extreme doubt about climate change is affecting my quality of life as a public citizens,” the former children’s TV host said at the time. “So I can see where people are very concerned about this, and they’re pursuing criminal investigations as well as engaging in discussions like this.”
‘Eviscerate EPA climate funding’: EPA will take huge climate hit in current Trump budget proposal
EPA will take huge climate hit in current budget proposal
The Trump administration’s proposed budget will eviscerate EPA climate funding and boost military spending.
The biggest cuts include those to several domestic programs and federal agencies, specifically the EPA and State Department. Under John Kerry’s tenure as secretary of State, he made climate change part of his diplomatic mission. A more comprehensive budget will be released March 13. Trump has already indicated he won’t touch entitlements like Social Security and Medicare. He hopes to redirect billions of dollars being spent on EPA global warming programs, research, and grants.

Green Climate Fund
The money saved would be allocated to increase defense spending. During the campaign, Trump said he would stop contributing to the United Nations Green Climate Fund (GCF), ostensibly used to help “climate” refugees. He said we should be focused on fixing our country’s infrastructure, including its crumbling bridges, airports, highways, and dams.
President Obama has already forked over a billion dollars to the GCF with another $2 billion earmarked for the U.N. During the transition, the incoming Trump administration asked the State Department what it spent on environmental and climate issues. Inspectors estimate at least nearly $80 billion has been spent on climate-related programs since 2008.
