Rep. Ryan Zinke (R-MT) has been asked to be Secretary of the Interior, according to Politico.

Zinke is also yet another climate denier skeptic to be named to Trump’s cabinet — although he has been considerably more circumspect than some other members of Congress, or the president-elect for that matter.

“It’s not a hoax, but it’s not proven science either,” Zinke has said. “But you don’t dismantle America’s power and energy on a maybe. We need to be energy independent first. We need to do it better, which we can, but it is not a settled science.”

Zinke’s nomination could be great news for big fossil fuel interests. The congressman has made it clear that he favors coal — over U.S. taxpayers. Zinke opposed efforts to reform the federal coal leasing program, which is estimated to cost U.S. taxpayers billions each year, by undervaluing public land. He was also a strong supporter of the successful effort to repeal the oil export ban, a move that is expected to increase U.S. exports while tying the country even more closely to the international oil market.

Environmentalists criticized Zinke’s selection, while recognizing that the Trump administration is building a pattern.…

NASA’s Lead ‘Global Warming’ scientist goes political: Calls for a carbon tax

By Paul Homewood

Dr-Gavin-Schmidt-Climatologist-Director-NASA-Goddard-Institute

Gavin claims to be a climate scientist.

Yet as a supposedly objective scientist in charge of GISS, why is he making overtly political interventions.

In this interview with the Vancouver Sun last year, he stated:

We have to have a price on carbon because right now it’s still free to put carbon dioxide into the atmosphere. So if you put a price on carbon that is commensurate with the damage that carbon-dioxide emissions cause, then people will be smarter. They will say: ‘Well, I can spend that money and damage the planet or I can spend less money and buy an electric car that’s fed by hydro. Vancouver is trying to be a real leader in switching to carbon-neutral energy sources and moving away from oil for transportation. All those things are very positive and the B.C. carbon tax is one of the most progressive and far-reaching ideas — even though in practice it hasn’t made a huge difference yet.

It is surely the job of taxpayer funded scientists to stick to the science, and leave policy making to the politicians.

Not that his scientific credentials are up to much, if his next comment in the interview is anything to go by:

Q: What is the future for waterfront cities like Vancouver?

A: You are going to have to put up with rising sea levels; they are not going to go down. But there’s a huge difference between a foot or two over 100 years and a metre or two metres. There’s a lot of waterfront development going on but is it sea-level-rise smart? I don’t know that it is. So don’t put stuff in the basement, have all your electrical equipment on the second floor or on the roof.

Meanwhile, back in the real world, sea levels at Vancouver have been rising at a rate of just 0.37mm/yr since 1910:

At this rate, Gavin’s two meters of sea level rise will take 5405 years.

Will EPA climate regulations impact the Earth’s climate?

NO! President Obama’s own EPA Chief Gina McCarthy admitted that the EPA regulations are symbolic and will have no measurable climate impact – even if you believe in the climate activist version of science. “The value of this rule is not measured in that way [temperature impact],” McCarthy said in 2015. “I am not disagreeing that this action in and of itself will not make
all the difference we need to address climate action, but what I’m saying is that if we don’t take action domestically we will never get started,” she added. Obama’s former EPA Administrator Lisa Jackson had previously noted that “U.S. action alone will not impact world CO2 levels.”

Climatologist Dr. Patrick Michaels’ analysis says any potential impact on climate from EPA regulations would be “so small as to be undetectable, less than two one-hundredths of a degree C.” “We’re not even sure how to put such a small number into practical terms, because, basically, the number is so small as to be undetectable.”

Even NASA’s former lead global warming scientist James Hansen has called Obama’s EPA climate regulations “practically worthless,” and added, “You’ve got to be kidding me.”

Yet, despite the fact that EPA regulations would have no impact on global CO2 levels, Obama advisor John Podesta claimed in 2014 that the EPA CO2 regulations are needed to combat extreme weather: “The risk on the downside you’re seeing every day in the weather.”

A ‘Sense Of Panic’ Over Trump Consumes Climate Science Summit

President-elect Donald Trump’s picks to head the energy and environment agencies seem to have caused a “sense of panic” among the thousands of climate researchers attending a science summit in San Francisco.

At least that’s according to meteorologist Anthony Watts, who’s at the American Geophysical Union (AGU) summit to present research.

Watts may be right. Media reports increasingly indicate scientists are worried they will be censored, marginalized or even fired for their position on man-made global warming.

The AGU at the last minute added a session to “talk about Trump,” reports NPR. Peter de Menocal, the dean of science at Columbia University, told NPR that colleagues have expressed “feelings of rage, anger, confusion, fear — they’re all negative emotions” about Trump.

Climatologist Dr. Tim Ball: ‘Global warming is the greatest deception in history’

Climate Scare Over: Top Experts Expose Scam at Freedom Confab
PHOENIX — Call off the doomsday bunkers and carbon taxes! The “climate” scare is officially over. The time for hysteria over alleged man-made global warming and CO2 has passed…
In early December, various prestigious scientists and a wide range of experts in various disciplines converged here, in Phoenix, Arizona, to forever demolish the catastrophic anthropogenic global warming (CAGW) alarmism and the deadly policies the alarmism underpins. After seeing the evidence, it will be impossible for the intellectually honest to go on believing the CAGW fantasy — or “cult,” as some top scientists have referred to the alarmist movement.
The hard-hitting conference was organized by longtime liberty movement leader G. Edward Griffin and his pro-liberty organization, Freedom Force International. Under the banner of “Global Warming: an Inconvenient Lie,” Freedom Force’s 3rd Congress ran from December 2 to December 4 at The Buttes resort in Phoenix, Arizona. Attendees and speakers came from across America, Canada, and Europe to learn and participate in what organizers described as a “gathering of the world’s top experts on this subject who completely demolished the myth of anthropogenic (man-caused) global-warming.”

Also speaking at the summit was Dr. Tim Ball, a prominent climatologist and retired professor from the University of Winnipeg in Canada. He began by arguing that the man-made global-warming hysteria was actually not a hoax, technically speaking, because a hoax typically involves some humor. “This is a deception on a global scale,” Dr. Ball said, lambasting the UN Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) for what he blasted as fraud. “It is the greatest deception in history, and it affects every single thing.” Among other evidence, he showed reconstructed temperature records going back thousands of years showing that the Earth has been far warmer in the past than it is today.

Ball also discussed an ongoing $1.5 million lawsuit against him by “scientist” Michael Mann, creator of the infamous (and totally discredited) “hockey stick” graph used by climate alarmists in an effort to terrorize humanity into paying CO2 taxes and submitting to what critics call the warming “religion” or “cult.” “Mann is at Penn State; maybe he should be in the state pen,” Ball joked as he described the widely ridiculed alarmist’s abuse of the Canadian legal system to harass him. In American states, Ball said, praising the U.S. legal system, …

Princeton Physics Professor William Happer, began his presentation by demolishing the pseudo-science underpinning climate hysteria. Dr. Happer, a co-author of one of the early books on global warming, and a former director of energy research at the U.S. Department of Energy, started off by debunking a key point in the warming scare: The myth, constantly parroted by politicians, bureaucrats, and gullible people, that CO2 is “pollution.”

“We’ve heard that CO2 is a demon molecule that causes global warming,” he explained, noting that the earth was getting greener and crop yields were increasing in response to more carbon dioxide in the atmosphere. “We should tell the truth: CO2 will benefit the Earth.” He also showed that, in the Earth’s past, CO2 concentrations in the atmosphere were far, far higher than they are today. “It is measured in thousands of parts per million rather than hundreds, as we have today,” he said, adding that humans exhale about two pounds of CO2 each day just by breathing.

Dr. Happer explained that plants were actually “designed” to live in a more CO2-rich environment than currently exists. In fact, virtually all plants benefit from more CO2, which is why farmers pump it into their greenhouses. An early …

Lord Monckton climate keynote revealed ‘that the UN was wrong about practically everything’

The keynote speaker for the event was Lord Christopher Mockton, the internationally known climate realist and former science adviser to U.K. Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher. He began by going up on stage and putting a red “Make America Great Again” hat on his head. The crowd cheered. He also highlighted Brexit, the historic decision by British voters to throw off the chains of the European Union super-state by exiting the EU completely.

Lord Monckton’s presentation began by outlining a series of “red flags” in the man-made global-warming theory and the alarmism surrounding it. Using a wide variety of graphs and charts focusing on everything from temperatures and trends to storms and global sea levels, Monckton showed that the United Nations was wrong about practically everything. In light of that, and more, he proposed that Britain and the United States should jointly leave the UN. Mockton, of course, has been a staple at UN “climate” summits around the world, showing up to expose the fraud, and even dropping into one of the UN confabs in South Africa with a parachute from the sky.

Much of Monckton’s presentation revolved around new findings further debunking the climate scare. Mockton, the author of a number of published …

NPR: Trump Leaves Scientists In A Climate Of Uncertainty – ‘People are worried about…their jobs’

Thousands of Earth scientists are in San Francisco this week to talk about climate change, volcanoes and earthquakes.

And another tectonic topic: President-elect Donald Trump.

As president, Trump will oversee a huge government scientific enterprise. Agencies like the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration and NASA have satellites collecting valuable data on the climate. Other agencies employ scientists studying that data, or modelling future climate shifts.

Scientists attending the American Geophysical Union’s Fall meeting are worried Trump could have a profound effect on the effort to understand climate, and not in what they consider a good way. Peter de Menocal, dean of science at Columbia University says he’s heard colleagues express “feelings of rage, anger, confusion, fear — they’re all negative emotions.”

“People are worried about — in extreme cases — their jobs,” adds Rob Jackson, an environmental scientist at Stanford University. But, he says: “They’re more worried about not being able to do their job the best way that is needed.”

Trump has sent contradictory signals about how he regards climate science. He tweeted that climate change is a hoax. Many of his advisers and cabinet picks, including his pick for administrator of the Environmental Protection Agency, doubt that climate change is a serious problem.…
