Black Lives Matter (BLM) activists have put out a list of policy demands that includes the government and corporations handing out reparations for years of “environmental racism” and “food apartheid.” “Reparations for the wealth extracted from our communities through environmental racism, slavery, food apartheid, housing discrimination and racialized capitalism in the form of corporate and government reparations focused on healing ongoing physical and mental trauma, and ensuring our access and control of food sources, housing and land,” reads BLM’s list of policy demands.~Snip~

Clinton, Trump show stark contrast on ‘climate change’

http://www.usatoday.com/story/news/politics/elections/2016/2016/08/02/donald-trump-climate-change-hillary-clinton/87628818/

Presidential candidates Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump are offering Americans starkly different views on global warming: Clinton sees it as an urgent concern while Trump dismisses it as a minor problem at most.

“There’s never been a bigger contrast between the two candidates and the two platforms,” said Tiernan Sittenfeld, senior vice president of the League of Conservation Voters.

The Trump campaign issued a statement Tuesday decrying Clinton’s policy proposals on climate change as an “extreme, reckless anti-energy agenda … to appease radical donors (who) will destroy millions of jobs and force millions more into abject poverty.”

The GOP nominee said nothing about climate change in his July 21 acceptance speech at the Republican National Convention. But he told a rally in South Carolina in December that global warming was “a hoax, a lot of it,” a modest change from a tweet in 2013 that called global warming “bulls—.”

He’s debunked climate science even though climate is likely the most thoroughly researched area on record, said Jeremy Symons, senior adviser with the Environmental Defense Action Fund.

The Democratic nominee said in her acceptance speech Thursday, “I believe climate change is real.” Clinton said she was proud the U.S. had signed the Paris climate accord, which commits the world’s nations to slow the rise of greenhouse gases blamed for warming the climate.

Heatwaves on Earth traced to tremendous ball of energy in our solar system

Star discovered in our solar system. The Onion, ahead of the worlds scientific societies, reports on a “watershed moment” in scientific history: Scientists Trace Heat Wave To Massive Star At Center Of Solar System PASADENA, CA—Groundbreaking new findings announced Monday suggest the record-setting heat wave plaguing much of the United States may be due to radiation emitted from an enormous star located in the center of the solar system. Scientists believe the star, which they have named G2V65, may in fact be the same bright yellow orb seen arcing over the sky day after day, and given its extreme heat and proximity to Earth, it is likely not only to have caused the heat wave, but to be responsible for every warm day in human history. The “tremendous ball of energy” may explain everything from drying puddles to hot car seats. Governments will have to act, though the path is unclear: When asked if anything could be done to prevent or counteract the star’s heat production, Kivens expressed skepticism. “No, for the foreseeable future, I think we’re locked into orbit with this thing,” he said. “Although the star seems to disappear […]Rating: 10.0/10 (5 votes cast)

Guest opinion by Christopher Monckton of Brenchley University College, London, one of the constituent colleges of what was once a respectable and serious academic institution, has declared open, vicious war on academic freedom. In doing so, it has forfeited the right to be taken seriously as a seat of learning. Last month Professor John Butterworth, […]

Al Gore’s daughter appears in court after pipeline protest arrest

Al Gore’s daughter appears in court after West Roxbury protest arrest (Massachusetts)

The daughter of former Vice President Al Gore appeared Friday at a hearing in West Roxbury Municipal Court after she was arrested for protesting the construction of Spectra Energy’s West Roxbury Lateral pipeline. “This pipeline is being built in West Roxbury against the will of the community. Elected officials have opposed it,” Karenna Gore said outside of the courtroom. “We’re in a position with climate change where, if we just keep on going like nothing is wrong and continue to use fossil fuels then we are really headed for the worst.”

Paris agreement failing — only 0.04% of global CO2 emissions “ratified” (1% of man-made CO2)

Paris agreement failing — only 0.04% of global CO2 emissions “ratified” (1% of man-made CO2)

http://joannenova.com.au/2016/08/paris-agreement-failing-only-0-04-of-global-co2-emissions-ratified-1-of-man-made-co2/

It’s was a grand theater. Greens brag that the Paris agreement was signed by “179 countries”, but it means nothing until they get 55 nations controlling 55% of the worlds (man-made) emissions. Right now, they’ve had a resounding response from no country that matters. What they need: Entry into force In accordance with Article 21, paragraph 1, of the Paris Agreement, the Agreement shall enter into force on the thirtieth day after the date on which at least 55 Parties to the Convention accounting in total for at least an estimated 55 % of the total global greenhouse gas emissions have deposited their instruments of ratification, acceptance, approval or accession with the Depositary. What they’ve got: 22 states which produce 1% of man-made emissions. Paris Agreement – Status of Ratification As of 2 August 2016, there are 179 signatories to the Paris Agreement. Of these, 22 States have also deposited their instruments of ratification, acceptance or approval accounting in total for 1.08 % of the total global greenhouse gas emissions. So only 33 countries and 54% of global emissions to go. (And they obviously mean “human emissions”, not “global emissions” or they’ll have to get […]Rating: 0.0/10 (0 votes cast)
